"Desire", much more than the two previous songs on "Spirit Of Eden", was where Talk Talk moved out of the mood of "The Colour Of Spring". The dramatic change from quiet-to-loud, rather than being overblown, offers a remarkable look at the troubled feelings of Mark Hollis' life and how he wants the pressure of him. The simple electric guitar line has a ferocious intensity rivalling their masterwork "Ascension Day", whilst the orchestrated feel of the softer lines actually stands as a perfect complement for creating amazing emotional power.
