Hush now, don’t explain;
There ain’t nothing to gain.
Well, I’m glad you’re back,
But don’t explain.
Quiet, baby, don’t explain;
You know there ain’t nothing to gain.
Skip that lipstick,
And don’t explain.
You know that I love you,
And what love endures.
All my thoughts are of you,
I am so completely yours.
Don’t wanna hear nobody chatter,
‘Cause I know you cheat.
Right or wrong, don’t matter,
When you’re with me, sweet.
Hush now, don’t explain;
You are my joy, and you’re my pain.
My life’s yours, love
So don’t explain.
You know that I love you
And what love endures.
All my thoughts are of you,
I am so completely yours.
Don’t wanna hear folks chatter,
‘Cause I know you cheat.
Right or wrong, don’t matter,
When I’m with you, sweet.
Hush now, don’t explain;
You know, you’re my joy and you’re my pain.
My life’s yours, love,
Don’t explain.

It's just right. The song is so beautiful, and I'm listening to it right now... Damien's and Lisa's voices go so extremely well together. A grat cover, although Billie Holiday's version's awesome too!

Perhaps it is where I am in my life at this point that gives this song a little deeper meaning, but it is simply beautiful. I heard the Damien Rice cover briefly on the tv. This rendition, the delivery, and pure emotion are simply impeccable, second only to the original. It's the sound of love and hurt laced with vulnerability. DG
Don't forget Billie! | Reviewer: Gnou | 9/12/2007
Damien Rice did a nice cover of that song, but the orignal one was sang by Billie Holiday. She wrote the lyrics, arthur herzog jr did the music.
It is so totally right, hush and don't explain. You are my joy and you're my pain. My life's yours love. Beautiful, beautiful.
