Since this little three year old passed, I have been singing this song every day.It reminded me that we are some what Dust in the wind. However,I do believe that our soul is taken up by our creator.Our creator puts us here and takes us back.I love this song.It's such a great thing that reguard to race,we can share common grounds.

I listened to this song when I was a kid. Took my oldest son to see Kansas at his request. This summer I will take my youngest. I have pre-planned my life celebration and have requested that this song be played. I had never really thought about the religious slant to it until reading the reviews. I know that we are just dust in the wind in all reality, but with God life has so much more meaning.

The music is about love, I believe. Do not panic to tell how much you love somebody, because at last we're all dust in the wind. Taking the risk of telling the truth to the one whom you love is better than being a coward who at the valley of death regrets these dusty moments.

I really love to hear this song,and that's what I was doing a few days ago,but there was something about the words...I was thinking what could be done to make them reflect what I believe in...and those two words came like a flash of light into my head "without Him".I googled it and landed here. :)
To the anonymous reviewer who had written those same words: I heard Kerry Livgren's testimony,he was challenged to refute the Bible as being the word of God and ended up becoming a Christian.it's beautiful and inspiring.May The Lord bless you and bless Kerry, and those who read these comments also.

I think that dude who reckons this song would be better about "The lord" (sounds kind of culty, i know) got this song completely wrong, to me this songs demonstrates how even if you waste your whole life worshipping "The lord" at the end of the day, you die alone, even religion is dust in the wind.

The lyrics are much better when not tainted by some sort of religious meaning, like the gentleman who has modified them had envisioned.
I'd much rather read or sing lyrics that talk about how this life we have is the only one we will EVER have and how lucky we are to be here instead of countless other people. Yet all is bound to end and time will consume everything, while we have the privilege to revel within the beautiful time that is our life and not witness the end of everything as we know it. This certainty does not have to be depressing and indicate the futility of life, on the contrary. It can make you appreciate what you have.

Kerry Livgren wrote this song at a time in his life when he was searching for the meaning of life.

Although this song speaks of the emptiness and futility of this life, and offers no hope, I have taken the liberty of changing the lyric somewhat...I don't think Kerry would mind... : )

Last month I assisted to a kansas concert and it was great they said they were celebrating 35 years since they sang this song for first time if you hear the voice the violing and everithing it is the same voice it was I was 15 years when I heard it the first time and I went to the concert with my 26 year old daughter and she said mother this song is the most beautiful I've heard. we really enjoyed that concert

I think everybody reconizes something from themselfs in this song. To me personaly, I start thinkin' about the girl that I'm in love with, and the fact that she's already with another. The song makes me sad, but it is so beautifull I can't turn it off. 'All my dreams pass before my eyes..' this part especialy reminds me off her, mayby because I have so many dreams of her.

this song remiand me when I was crossing the Arizona desert whit(?) nothing more than a gallon of water and a thin jaket... that's 20 years ago and for me is like is was yesterday. And laki the Bible said "Dust To The Dust..."

The first time I heard this song, I was in the back of my boyfriend's father's car as he drove me home and I remember this song because the entire time, my boyfriend kept holding me and kissing me. I never heard the song again until today and it's almost been a year. I looked up the lyrics and now...gosh, I need to make a phone call. This song reminds me of him and back when things weren't so...fucked up.

I am 35 years old. I like Rock and Roll and also ballads. This is a nice song played by Kansas. This song means everything to me, the day I will die, People of my family who have past away, deep thought, the beautiful that life is. We have just one life. Live as If you would die tomorrow.
