Gone Lyrics - Daughtry
Review The Song (5)
Feeling like this could only mean
I'm sinking.
Feeling like this could only mean
I'm sinking.
Well, I'm sinking.
Pull me up.
Every time I see your clothes scattered out on the floor,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Every time I see the light not burning on the porch,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone,
But you are.
You are.
Feeling overwhelmed, I take a dive
To a once overfilled but now empty place to hide.
The day you turned on me is the day I died,
And I've forgotten what it's like,
And how it feels to be alive.
Every time I see your clothes scattered out on the floor,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Every time I see the light not burning on the porch,
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Reach up to the sky.
When nothing seems to go right,
When nothing seems to go right for me.
Every time I see your clothes scattered out on the floor.
I say I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone.
Everytime I see the light not burning on the porch,
I say I thought you would be home.
You never would be gone.
I thought you would be home.
You said you never would be gone,
But you are.
You said you never would be gone,
But you are.

perfect song and i like "life after you" or "what about now" too. as i understood, his songs are all about Love, so we can name him as a teenager singer.if u are look'n for a song with a mean'nful lyric i suggest you to listen to songs of bands like:
Anathema, Metallica,Pink Floyd,Black sabbath and Tiamat.
Daughtry is a teenager band fellas, no doubt on it.
Great song | Reviewer: Aerows | 7/6/10
I'm 39 and this song is very expressive. It's not a depressed teenager song and whoever thought that misses the point. Life isn't always easy, and grappling with emotions isn't something we are all fans of. I'm not, but it is necessary to open that box on occasion and sort them out.

Depressed teenagers?? If that's what you think Daughtry is writing about/to, you'd better take another listen. I'm 32 and this is the ONLY band that I can say I relate to, whose lyrics really mean something to me-to the point of which i have been brought to tears by more than one song-in such a long time I couldn't begin to venture a guess. Chris Daughtry is absolutely amazing, and I am a hard sell. I'm not impressed by many bands post-90's. I was in awe when I heard him sing and FINALLY someone writes lyrics that actually HAVE MEANING. Not angst-ridden-Eddie-Vedder meaning (don't get me wrong; I love Pearl Jam) but real meaning about real situations in real life. Please, take the time to LISTEN and think about the lyrics. Take it all in-vocals, lyrics, music...holy crap DAUGHTRY ROCKS!!!!!!

yeah, he was feeling like 'i'm going to write this and almost all of my songs for the depressed teenagers' ;] nothing else..the man has a wife and children.. anyway, i'm one of those teenagers, so yeah, i like the lyrics...
I Love You Chris Daughtry!!!!! | Reviewer: Ashley L. Miller | 12/5/07
I love this song so much. It makes me a little sad when I listen to it, but it is definitely one of my favorite songs on the C.D. It makes me wonder how Chris was feeling when he came up with this song, and how he came up with the lyrics for it.
