Gone Lyrics

Review The Song (9)Print the Lyrics
Well look at all those fancy clothes
But these could keep us warm
Just like those.
And what about your soul
Is it cold
Is it straight from the mould
And ready to be sold.

And cars and phones and diamond rings
Bling, bling
Those are only removable things
And what about your mind
Does it shine or
Are there things that concern you more
Than your time

Gone going
Gone everything
Gone give a damn
Gone be the birds when they don’t want to sing
Gone people
All awkward with their things
Gone

Look at you out to make a deal
You try to be appealing but you lose your appeal
And what about those shoes you’re in today
They’ll do no good
On the bridges you burnt along the way

You’re willing to sell anything
Gone with your herd
Leave your footprints
And we’ll shame them with our words

Gone people
All careless and consumed
Gone
Gone going
Gone everything
Gone give a damn
Gone be the birds if they don’t want to sing
Gone people
All awkward with their things
Gone

Review about Gone

Deep Song | Reviewer: Jeff | 1/5/10

Jack Johnson is great and unique in that his lyrics are deeper and more meaningful than any other popular artist. I'm very glad to hear an artist singing about more than sex and drugs. This song proves his simplicity yet talent.

wow super crazy good song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/17/09

idk how he does it but its just such i good song that can make even me a 13yr old realize that cloths arent everything because in reality they r nothing when u die ppl rnt gonna remember u for ur clothes and if they do ur a rich db*g. when im older the clothes i wore wont make me any better of a person than if i only wore socks which now that i think bout it im gonna do it sounds so comfy!!

A positve slap in my face | Reviewer: Jeff Harris | 7/16/08

I love JJ and this song was nothing more than a positive slap in my face for me, a wake up Jeff, slap in my face. I'm not stupid rich but I tend to buy overly priced things...I was looking at a $5,000 dollar Jakcet the other day at Neiman Marcus when I realized...it's just cloth, cotton, finely made yes, but still just cloth, little different from a suit at Target. This song came to my mind and I was just like wow, I'm never shopping hear again, and went to Mens Wearhouse and bought a full outfitted tailored suit with shoes, shirt, tie, everything for under $600...again just cloth...but 4,400 less.

A positive slap in the face. | Reviewer: Jeff Harris | 7/16/08

I recently discovered Jack Johnson about 8 months ago and instantly loved everything that I have heard from him which never happens for me. This particular song was what I would call " a positive slap in the face" for all of us. I'm not stupid rich but I still get caught up in materialism and this song helps to keep me focused on more important things like my little girl and enjoying a simple hike by some cliffs in my backyard. Materialism is wasteful when so much less would suffice. I was walking around Neiman Marcus looking at $5 k jackets, and realized...it's just cloth...it's made of the same stuff as a suit from Target...but it's 5k...stupid, and wasteful when there is so many better ways to spend money, like giving a grant to a deserving college kid.

True reflection on life | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/3/08

Every song that he has produced has every instance of life which he has worded beautifully. I really do admire his word he has contributed in music and his help to the environment. If only there was more of them in the world.

look at all those fancy clothes | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/30/07

Its amazing because the mainstream of Jack Johnson's followers here in northeastern USA are under the impression that Johnson inspires them to conform to this "lax bro" style- a style where everyone works out in underarmour and everyone goes out in plaid shorts and polo shirts. Yet this song and many others is a complete contradiction of this expensive click. "Gone" calls out materialistists and forces us to realize that material things don't last forever.

Gone | Reviewer: Peter | 7/10/07

Every song he has made has some truth to them, its just funny that people love his songs so much because they think that the song is about everyone else than themselves, when the truth is that they are about every single human being on this planet..

Gone | Reviewer: Cassandra | 4/24/07

This song is so amazing.
It's so truthfull, realistic...
I'm not sure how to put it.
But it's a song about life pretty much,
and it says everything there is to be said.

I <3 Jack Johnson

:]
