I am the one, camouflage and guns
Risk my life to keep my people from harm
Authority vested in me,
I sacrifice with my brothers in arms
Through this doorway, what's on the other side?
Never knowing exactly what I'll find,
Locked and loaded, voices screaming
"Let's go! Come on, do it, here we go!"
I'll take a life that others may live
Oh, it's just the way it goes
I'll shut my eyes, it hammers in my head,
Where it'll end nobody knows
I take a life ten others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
It's playing over and over in my head,
Where it'll end nobody knows
Stay the course, reasonable force
I believe I serve a greater good
Smoke and dust, enemies are crushed,
Nothing left where a man once stood
Through this doorway, what's on the other side?
Never knowing exactly what I'll find,
Locked and loaded, voices screaming
"Let's go," but I'm just doing what I'm told
I'll take a life that others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
I'll shut my eyes, it hammers in my head,
Where it'll end nobody knows
I take this life ten others may live
Oh, that's just the way it goes
It's playing over and over in my head,
Where it begins and
Where it'll end nobody knows
Go!
Aw! Aw! Aw! Aw!
Bang bang, it hammers in my head
Bang bang, it hammers in my head
Bang bang, it hammers in my head
In my head, in my head...
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
Death, I will fear no evil: for Thou are with me
Locked and loaded gonna find my truth
Now I'm busting through, all hell breaks loose
And you can all hide behind your desks now!
And you can cry "teacher come help me!"
Through you all, my aim's true!
My aim's true!

fist of all his name is cheesy dumbass and secondly he is almost 100 percent correct, what cheesy says about the school shooting is all true but i dont believe that this kid is quite that easy, i think this kid has some serious mental health issues, he is a schizophrenic, the voice is, his other being his other side the side that craves blood shed if your religous it is his devil on his shoulder, he does have a feeling of the soilder aspect but its kinda more fucked then that, his "hammers in my head" is his otherside that loves bloodshed, this song shows us how easy it is for our minds to control our thoughts and actions, he was just a kid who most likely had little friends so he made his own, like the lord of the rings and gollam, this feeling of being oppressed made his devil make him do something that he would never do, in his mind he was saving but the otherside took over and he loves it, in every school shooting there is someone inocent hurt maybe not phycially but mentally, if he was truley a saviour or helping he would have just kicked the kids ass some how not killing someone or shooting someone, cheesy buddy you give him to much credit, the friend he made in his head poisoned him into thinking that murder was richous and good, he turned into a murder hungry teenager(sorry for all the grammer mistakes)
Offspring does an excellent job contrasting an armed student with a soldier (verse 1) and a religious war hero ("Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
Death, I will fear no evil: for Thou are with me" is a quote out of the 23rd Psalm of the Holy Bible).
By comparing the accused of a school shooting with a soldier Offspring is showing how war is no less disgusting then a kid blasting away his school mates due to bullying. "Risk my life to keep my people from harm Authority vested in me, I sacrifice with my brothers in arms" is Offspring's way of showing that the school shooter actually had the same mentality as a soldier who (in his own mind) is risking his own life to save his brothers and people back home. "Authority vested in me" however, raises the question: What authority invested in such a disturbing and destructive event? This question is answered in the second last verse when Offspring quotes two lines out of the King James Version of Psalm 23. Verses such as this has granted men authority from God to wage war with those who did not live according to "God's" principles. Typically such war never begins by two peaceful tribes however, it usually begins with one tribe leeching off another, much like a bully steals a kid's lunch money, or uses physical force in order to control individuals around him/her. "I take this life ten others may live" helps the listener understand that such an action is not selfish, but a selfless retaliation of a boy who is tired of all his brothers being enslaved by the moralless unethical hard heads who think they can do what ever they want to whom ever they want with no concequences. Although this sounds like a childish way to get revenge upon his bulliers, Offspring makes it evident that a kid in such a situation simply had no other option. "I believe I serve a greater good" and ""Let's go," but I'm just doing what I'm told" Show that this kid obviously believed there was a higher purpose in which he served, however we can still see that such a kid still feels and doesn't do such actions for fun or because he enjoys killing or bloodshed. This can be seen by the hammering in his head everytime he shoots, because this is obviously a very hard action for him to actually follow through with, however, according to this song, it was all done for a greater good. So are the Offspring just another religion hating atheist group who wants to expose the deepest darkest secrets of a supposidly oppressing religion? This seems to be the new popular question flooding the world: Which is worst, atheism or religion? My question is which is the better of two evils?!
I thought this was about the war too.... I was wondering what the end had to do with it. The Offspring really showed good lyrics on their new album. This song really stands out to me in lyrics and music, i love it

bang bang and a hammer in my head ;) | Reviewer: Arn | 5/17/08
That's a nice song, but when I first read the lyrics I thought "man it's serious, it's about the war". But as Dexter said, it referred to school shootings. The lyrics found on http://offspring.com aren't correct actually.
