From lawman to legend, Henson Cargill could very well be
credited with bridging the gap between country and pop
music. his country classic, "Skip A Rope", crossed to
dominate the pop charts and start a trend that is
exemplified in today's country prominence nationally.
Henson Cargill has "staying power". His career spans over
35 years with some 15 National chart records, 9 LP's, 12
National T.V. appearances, National spokesperson for the
original "7-up-uncola" campaign, most promising male
vocalist award, grammy nominee, numerous ASCAP achievment

------ About artist/band Henson Cargill
I was listening to Henson Cargill's wonderful album (vinyl!) and it brought me to this site. I am happy to see that he is not forgotten. As a teenager I loved his song "Skip A Rope". His producer, Don Law, spoke of how many people would come to him for auditions and he would tell 99% of them to pack up and go home. Lucky for us that he did not do the same with Henson. I first heard the song in 1966 on WCAO, Baltimore. Thereafter, I thought of him in the same vein as Dylan and Paul Simon. I am not necessarily a country music fan, but Henson made it respectable.
