If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If I was president
An old man told me, instead of spending billions on the war,
we can use some of that money, in the ghetto.
I know some so poor, when it rains that when they shower,
screaming "fight the power".
That's when the vulture devoured
[chorus]
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If I was president...
If I was president...
If I was president
But the radio won't play this.
They call it rebel music.
How can you refuse it, children of moses?
[chorus]
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.
If I was president...
If i was president
Tell the children the truth, the truth.
Christopher Columbus didn't discover America.
Tell them the truth.
The truth
YEAH! Tell them about Marcus Garvey.
The the children the truth YEAH! The truth.
Tell them about Martin Luther King.
Tell them the truth.
The Truth.
Tell them about JFK
If I was President
[chorus]
If I was president,
I'd get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday,
and buried on Sunday.

Review about If I was President fair | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/2/2007
I like this song...it is very real but he doesnt quite get too deep into the injustice like rapper immortal technique does...just research his lyrics && wyclef will look like nothing next to him...

A really great song witha great message | Reviewer: mikey g | 8/6/2005
Wyclef is a master; he is taking his music to a whole new level. Even redoing such a song like no woman no cry and pulling it off very well and adding his own twist to the lyrics to make it more "today", I think Marley would be proud. Now this song so very powerful in the lyrics and the way he sings it with such conviction. I have heard other versions and it a master peace. Even though the guitar is very simple and straight forward and no drums or complicated beats he stills makes you want to move. He stirs the heart the way he sings and how he professes. I think people should really listen to this song not only for its profound Rasta roots beauty but for its message. You should also check out the other version a little bit different than this one shorter but equally as powerful. Freedom and love the best message anyone can give.
