Jimi Hendrix Lyrics

In his brief four-year reign as a superstar, Jimi Hendrix
expanded the vocabulary of the electric rock guitar more
than anyone before or since. Hendrix was a master at
coaxing all manner of unforeseen sonics from his
instrument, often with innovative amplification experiments
that produced astral-quality feedback and roaring
distortion. His frequent hurricane blasts of noise, and
dazzling showmanship — he could and would play behind his
back and with his teeth, and set his guitar on fire — has
sometimes obscured his considerable More...

------ About the song Hey Baby (New Rising Sun) performed by Jimi Hendrix

This is truly one of Jimi's coolest tunes. Although a huge fan, I haven't done any research on this but it seems to me that he had a basic format for the lyrics and just kind of made them up as he went. The "microphone on' comment suggests that this was a practice take that they decided to keep, warts and all. The soloing goes in a very different direction for Jimi and is very refreshing. It's incredible and I love this tune.

The first two parts have a sad ending while the third part has a happy ending :)

------ About the song All Along The Watchtower performed by Jimi Hendrix

When I first heard Jimi's song "Machine Gun", I was so impressed that I had to hear more. His guitar playing along with his vocals were so unique that I was literally blown away. What made Hendrix so great was his individuality, something that's hard to find amongst today's artists. "All Along the Watchtower" may have been a cover of the original (Performed by Bob Dylan), yet he took it and transformed it something new of his own. There's no telling where Jimi would be at now musically if he was still around.

Castles Made of Sand - Jimi Hendrix Truth | Reviewer: El Meri
------ About the song Castles Made Of Sand performed by Jimi Hendrix

You all may not know this, but the song is the story of Jimi's family story. The first verse is about Jimi's mother and father in the early years, and how they ended in divorce. The second verse is about Jimi's baby brother (who reminded him of an Indian, and the hardships his brother faced being shifted from foster home, to foster home. The third verse is about the despair his mother went through with his dad, as he used to be violent toward her, and also how a couple of years before she passed, she told Jimmy that he would see her in the golden ship in the sky. A couple years after she said that, she was in the hospital due to complications with her kidney, and when young Jimi went to see her there, she was in a wheel-chair, as she was not able to walk. Not too long after that, her spleen ruptured and none of the staff recognized what was happening to her, and she passed in the hospital. Sad, but that what the song is really all about. And this information comes from Jimi's brother. Youtube the Jimi Hendrix documentary, and in one of the parts you'll hear Jimi's brother and niece speak about it and break it down.

------ About the song Hey baby performed by Jimi Hendrix

A true masterpiece, unheralded by the greatest guitarist ever. The guitar work is masterful and the lyrics have a spiritual bent. Also, check out the song Pali Gap, another instrumental masterpiece by Jimi.

Angel - who was song written for | Reviewer: Robin
------ About the song Angel performed by Jimi Hendrix

I met Jimi Hendrix when i was 10 years old not long after the 1967 Eurovision song contest won by Sandie Shaw with Puppet on a string. It was at a servive station near Birmingham. He had not been in UK long. I was with my 17yr old art student sister, Sophie. We had hitched to London to stay with friends and family, and also stayed with friends in Henley. It was a lift from friend in Henley that took us to the motorway service station (one of the first in the UK) where we waited to decide how to hitch North to Edinburgh (having never been in a service station before , and where used to hitching from road side).

Jimi's bus drove up and out he popped larger than life, very colourful and charismatic. He immediately started talking to my sister and then called me over, mistakening me for my sister's boyfriend (Yuk). He chatted for about 20 minutes, gave my sister some service station sandwiches and said he would write a song about her for her. To me that song is Angel.

Many thanks Robin

Native American Ancestry | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Little Wing performed by Jimi Hendrix

People often forget about Jimi Hendrix' Native American ancestry and how it factored into a lot of his music. He used many Native American images and motifs in his writing, so it's more than likely that "Little Wing" meant something entirely different to him.
