John Alec Entwistle was born to Herbert and Maud Entwistle
on Oct 9, 1944 in Chiswick England. While growing up as a
child John took up the trumpet, flugelhorn , and the piano
as well as the bass guitar.
Around 1959 John Entwistle, Pete Townshend and Phil Rhodes
started a band called "The Confederates", which will
eventually evolve into "The Who".
Even though Entwistle was not the main songwriter for "The
Who", John had his share of song writing such notable
songs, as "Whiskey Man", "Boris The Spider", "My Wife"
and "Trick Of The Light" just to mention a few.
As bassist for "The Who", you can hear his expert bass
playing in such songs as "My Generation" and cover versions
of "Shaken All Over", "Young Man Blues" and my favorite WHO

Review about John Entwistle The Ox | Reviewer: Willie
------ About the song Heaven and Hell performed by John Entwistle
The Who did many-a-warmup using John's songs. Far over looked as a writer, this song--along with "My Wife"-- shows his true genius. As a bassplayer, I marval at his talent. But his hidden singing at songwriting is overlooked.

------ About the song Heaven and Hell performed by John Entwistle
Written with tongue in cheek , this is yet another gem from the genius better known as The Ox . Used as a set opener on many an occasion by The Who , this song shows just how powerful a force John was in The Who . With its clever , witty lyrics , thundering bassline , Pete's whirlwind guitar work and Moon's awesome drumming , this is without a doubt a classic .
