Johnson's Aeroplane Lyrics - Inxs

Review The Song (6)

Four long lines one darker than the rest
Each one has a purpose making borders on the land
Farmer's pride you know he works real hard
From a small aeroplane you can see the fields

Heart-shaped hedges Japanese gardens
Heart-shaped hedges Japanese gardens
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow

Four long years one leaner than the rest
The animals are thin and the pasture's dry
Farmer's pride if the weather doesn't lie
From a small aeroplane you can see the sea
Lots of blue very deep blue

A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow

Johnson sees the fields from all the sides
Steel machines and black tar roads
Countryside where the spirit never dies
In his face all the history shows
Farmer's pride as the rains came down

Johnson's Aeroplane | Reviewer: Delray | 4/20/12

It's always hard to pick a favourite and that rings so true with Inxs. As for trying to pick their best song, thats too subjective. We will all have differnet reasons for why we pick a particular song as our favourite. I think it all comes down to the moment and the mood. For me the "MOMENT" was hearing Johnson's Aeroplane for the first time when they debuted the album at a concert in 84. We just wanted to hear all their existing stuff from Shabooh Shoobah and they started "pushing" this new stuff. Then they played Johnson's Aeroplane. The "MOOD" - You could have heard a pin drop.

Thanks Guys | Reviewer: TBK | 6/30/10

You know what I love about the internet and sing365 in particular is how you can find lots of people who agree with you. However to say this is INXS best song is just silly try Not Enough Time to truly experience their enermous hearts. Hanging out with the guys in ,99 was one of my biggest thrills thanks Kirk,Andrew,Gary,Tim and Jon. And thanks for carrying on you deserve it!

Johnsons Aeroplane... I concur. | Reviewer: Fuzz | 7/9/07

I must say I concur with the rest of you, and what a great buzz to see the boys play it live! For me I think it is the addition of the strings that give the song so much depth. As far as what it means, well, in Australia our farmers do it pretty tough and drought is a constant concern, but they are, in essence a pround mob. We are in the midst of the biggest drought for some years at the moment. Farmers are fighting tooth and nail just to keep crops and livestock from going under, but it is their pride I feel that keeps them working the land, and their fingers to the bone.

great song | Reviewer: rol1134 | 5/29/07

i think the last time i saw them was in 1987 or 88, for kick, here in houston, texas. and they actually played it live, such a pleasant surprise. i like it when your favorite bands play those songs that you dont expect to hear. this was one of those moments.

INXS best song | Reviewer: Chonka | 8/29/06

I agree , this has always been my favorite INXS song , even with all the hits on The Swing , this song always stood out as THE song , funnily enough , this never broke into the top 50 in Australia.

JOHNSON'S AEROPLANE | Reviewer: Paul | 5/24/05

This song is by far my favorite INXS song. There's something about the tone of it that jkust speaks to me. It has such a sad quality and such great instrumentals. I've never figured out what it's supposed to mean though. Anyone?
