Kari Rueslåtten was born October 3rd in 1972.

In the early 90's she sang in a nameless band in Trondheim.

In 1992 Kari and Finn Olav Holthe (guitar) met with Rune
Hoemsnes (drums), Geir Nilssen (guitar) and Trond Engum
(guitar) from the local death metal band Nightfall.

Together with Jarle Dretvik (bass) they founded The 3rd and
the Mortal.

Their first and only demo tape already showed their great
skills, combinig the different band members' influences in
a unique and fascinating way. Their music is a mixture of
death / doom like sounds, with influences from folk and
dark / gothic music, creating a dreamlike magical
atmosphere of deep melancholy and great beauty
