Animalize LP Review | Reviewer: chuck case | 9/3/11

Animalize is Kiss' second best non-makeup album of the 80's after Lick It Up.Though I like Lick It Up as a whole more,Ilike Animalize 2 main singles better than Lick It Ups'. Heaven's On Fire & Thrills In The Night are my 2 favorite non-makeup 80s Kiss songs as opposed to the song,Lick It Up & All Hell's Breakin' Loose."Thrills.." is also one of the last times that Paul uses his incredible solo album voice!!! Aside from those two awesome tracks the rest of the album is rather patchy.Paul's 3 other songs are "I've Had Enough"(a soundalike of their previous albums far better "Exciter"),"Get All You Can Take" which is nothing more than a loud rocker & "under The Gun" a fast(for Kiss)song that is kind of all over the place. As for Gene Simmons who started his film career around this point,he contributes 4 songs here none of which are Kiss or Gene classics but I like "Lonely Is The Hunter" an easy going rocker & his seductive "Murder In High Heels"."While The City Sleeps'"is ok while "Burn Bitch Burn" is Gene trying to be that 80's chic that always turned me off a bit although it does contain one of Gene's more memorable lines- "I wanna put my log in your fireplace"!!!This would unfortunately be their last decent LP for awhile though.MY Rating 6
