Dana, my darling, I'm writing to you.
Cause your father passed away, it was a beautiful day
And I don't want to bother You anymore,
I used to hope you'd come back
But not anymore Dana.
My eyes might have betrayed me, but I have seen
your picture on the cover of a filthy magazine
And I think my heart just cannot handle that
Dana, my darling, would be so bad.
Dana my darling I'm writing to you
Cause your mother passed away it was a really rainy day
And I didn't mean to bother you anymore
Your mother wished: Come visit your father's grave, Dana
Your father disowned you 'cause you have sinned
But he did forgive you in condition he was in
And I hope you won't do those things anymore
Dana My darling I'm waiting for
Little Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
to travel away, faraway
No, you can't surprise me anymore
I've seen it all before
But it seems I cannot let you go
Dana, Dana, Dana, Dana
And I think that I told you, I'd wait for you forever
Now I know someone else's holding you,
so, for the first time in my life - I must lie
Lie's a sin, mess that I am in,
Love is not the thing I feel now
I promise you: I won't write again 'til the sun sets
behind your grave
Dana, oh, Dana I'm writing to you
I heard you passed away, it was a beautiful day
I'm old and I feel time will come for me
My diary's pages are full of thee
Little Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
to travel away, faraway
Little Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
to travel away, faraway
Little Dana O'Hara oh, Dana my dear,
How I wish that my Dana was here
Little Dana O'Hara decided one day
to travel away, faraway

EPIC are the only words to describe this song. once again sonata show there versatility within there style. this and fullmoon two different songs from heavy to soft, both as epic. im hopefull seeing them in o2 arena in december weoooooooooooh
Really sad... | Reviewer: oli | 11/8/08
A lot of Sonata Arctica's songs are made of sad feelings...(Shy, Tallulah, this one, The Misery, etc...)
but they can explain people's feelings in words that no one else can express.
I used to listen to them, and then i stopped, just to listen again to them more carefully afterwards, with a stronger experience behind me, and they still make me feel good, actually.
I think their songs are made for everyone, because everyone can put a name on the names they use in their songs. And that makes it all better !!
I really love them, and hope the number of adepts will rise !!
how ironic.. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/24/08
this is the first tym i heard the music of SA and i must say they really a good artists. it's really a beautiful song.. It touched me just like all of you felt.. A very sad story though.. i pitied the man in the song cuz he really do love dana.. and the irony of that is.. my name is also dana.. =p
Memories | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/11/08
It remineds me of the first girl I had, I was 13 and when she broke up with me I nearlly got killed by some weird maniac who got mad for that but still I'm fine now and nearlly completlly over it but stil I love this song.
(-_-)
A friend told me to listen to letter to dana cuz he did - and sill does - like this song a lot.
And well I've to say that i'm very surprised about how many feelings this song is made of.. and by telling a story within the text its even interesting to know what happens at the end while first listening...
Greets @ all who read

This is the best slow song ever... There is once part which is really what I had..
No, you can't surprise me anymore
I've seen it all before
But it seems I cannot let you go
Dana, Dana, Dana, Dana
And I think that I told you, I'd wait for you forever
Now I know someone else's holding you,
so, for the first time in my life - I must lie
Lie's a sin, mess that I am in,
Love is not the thing I feel now
I promise you: I won't write again 'til the sun sets
behind your grave
but then, I'd have to replace Dana with my ex's name...
Sonata Arctica really knows how to hit it when it comes to slow songs.
