London Grammar Biography

Review The Artist (1)

London Grammar are a trio who met in the residence halls of Nottingham University. The band consists of lead vocalist (Hannah Reid), guitarist (Dan Rothman) and multi - instrumentalist (Dot Major). Dan saw a video of Hannah singing and playing the guitar on Facebook and contacted her. Dot, who is a year younger than them both was introduced to the two by Dan's girlfriend. They had been releasing songs on the internet (SoundCloud) before they became well -known. Their sound is quite original, a mixture of classic and new, but they have been compared to the likes of The XX and Florence + the machine on numerous occasions. They have been supported by BBC introducing and started off playing small gigs in Nottingham, before moving on to festivals in the summer. They have a debut album out called If You Wait and have collaborated with Disclosure on a track called Help Me Lose My Mind, which features on Disclosure's album, Settle, as well as the deluxe version of If You Wait. Their album came to number 20in the charts, when it was first release on the 9th of September 2013, which is a shame since it should have been number 1!
Hannah writes lyrics inspired by people that come in and out of her and they are enhanced by her hauntingly beautiful vocals. The boys also do backing vocals on some songs. They are absolutely amazing and have a promising career ahead of them!
In case you can't tell, I absolutely love this band and all I listen to is their debut album on repeat! I LOVE LONDON GRAMMAR AND HOPE THAT YOU DO TO!!!!

I was just introduced to your music by my 23 year old daughter this Christmas and am so thrilled. Your music is so original, ethereal, beautifully haunting, and compelling. I stayed up late last night just to watch you on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Even though I am a middle aged mom of 2 lovely daughters, I love finding fresh new music, as well as enjoying a very diverse spectrum of almost all music. I will be watching for more of what you do. Keep doing your thing, you're definitely on to something extraordinary.
