Making believe,
That you still love me.
It's leaving me
Alone and so blue.
I'll always dream, but I'll never own you.
Making believe,
is all I can do.
I can't hold you close,
Darling when you're not near me,
You're somebody's love.
You'll never be mine.
Making believe,
I'll spend my lifetime
Loving you.
And making believe.

Review about Making Believe I love Social D's version of this song but.... | Reviewer: Hugh Jass | 2/12/09
Making Believe is a great song and Social Distortion does a killer cover of the song, but Mike Ness didn't write this song.
Jimmy Work wrote this song in the 1950's and it has been performed by many people including Kitty Wells, Wanda Jackson and Ray Charles.
Jimmy Work isn't credited as the song writer because Sony owns the rights to the song and Social D's Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell album was released by Sony.
Making Believe and Dear Lover are 2 Social D songs that hit home with me. I'm not sure what sort of place Mike was in when he wrote the latter but we have all been there...
Making Believe is a cover of a country song, I think and right now it describes my situation perfectly- he isn't here, can't be mine... making believe is indeed all I can do for the moment.
This song is so true. I guess Mike and I feel the same way about a girl that we love but we can't be with her. Making believe is all we really can do.
