End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths construction
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
Dedicated to
How I'm killing you
Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror
Taste me you will see
More is all you need
Dedicated to
How I'm killing you
Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Master, Master, where's the dreams that I've been after?
Master, Master, you promised only lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear or see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries
Fix me!
Solo!
Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, Drift on numbered days
Now your life is out of season
I will occupy
I will help you die
I will run through you
Now I rule you too
Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master
Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Review about Master of Puppets It helps | Reviewer: ktrl | 3/13/10
Its kinda hard to do away with these songs, the guitar work is soooo amazing. Luv the sound of screech guitar. Guess am addicted to metal, except am a little scared aba the satan issues, for now convincing myself its aba coke makes it a little easier to listen to this masterpiece. whew.
I'm sorry, but stairway to heaven is not the best song. it is very slow and boring, this is awesome shit, yes it is about drugs anyone who didnt is obiously stupid. anyway
I Think (My Opinion) that Metallica is the greatest band ever. and second is Megadeth they are 2 extemely Clever and artistic bands.
Powerful. | Reviewer: Tommie | 2/19/10
This has always been one of my favorite songs (not just a Metallica favorite) even despite never having done anything "heavier" than marijuana ...
Th'message of this song is extremely powerful and if th'lyrics were written a lil more accurately, th'general reader would get th'message easier.
This song is actually a dialogue b'tween th'drug that's "crawling" (through th'veins) but also the "addicts" responses to it ("Where's th'dreams that I've been after? Master, Master ... You promised only lies").
Most people don't understand exactly HOW powerful a message this song delivers. Listen to it a few times, knowing th'lyrics, relating it to drugs and many of you will see it in a new light.
Again ... GREAT SONG!

Its about Drugs....and its awesome | Reviewer: Chris | 2/3/10
I don't normally leave comments but I was readi through some and I just had to laugh. This song (which is fucking amazing) is obviously about drugs.
"Chop you breakfast on a mirror" gives it all away. Thats cocaine.
It does not mean the devil took all your bowls so you eat breakfast on a mirror. And besides the line is chop, not prepare. Even if you had no bowls and ate on a mirror you wouldn't chop up your cereal. Whoever posted that is retarded.
I can see how some of you think its about the Devil. But its not. James did indeed say it was about drugs in an interview. I think he would know. lol.
But anyway. Since I'm here. This is an amazing song. Metallica is one of the best bands of all time easily. I, personally, don't relate to this song b/c I'm very against Drugs and Alcohol. But the meaning is very deep. Just awesome.

"For those talking about the meaning of the song, you need to remember that this song this song was released during the peak of the 'Cocaine Epidemic' of the 80s, when 'War on Drugs' was a new term, Nancy Reagan's 'Just Say No!' campaign was in full effect, and Crockett and Tubbs were busting the coke dealers every week on TV. Yes, it is a good depiction of any addiction, but analyzing it much more than that is reading a little too much into it. I bought the tape a week after it came out, and that's just how things were. As far as the satan/sin/whatever thing, you've never seen a junkie that's run out of dope, have you? Go do some volunteer work at a rehab center and you'll see what an addict's hell is like."
True that dude...

It is about drugs... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/9/09
"Veins that pump with fear". The reason a lot of people do drugs is because they believe that it will help them escape their fears, Get courage to stand up to their enemies. Not knowing that they'll end up hooked. Then you end up becoming reliant " Never ending maze, drift on numbered days". The drugs control you even though you realize it's doing nothing good for you. " master, where's the dreams that i've been after...Promised only lies". The message of this song became so clear after seeing a handful of my friends Sucked into the addiction of Ecstasy. it isn't pretty, and that's the meaning of this song At least to me it is.
Your readin to much into it and tryin to make it what you want it to be! David B. up there is very correct when he said James said it in an interview. And if you wanna argue with tha lead singer be my guest but your wrong! True drugs are Satan's best tool against man kind but Satan is not the inspiration behind tha lyrics.

It is about drugs because wen he says chop ure brekfast on a mirror he's talkin about coke cause your addicted 2 drugs you sold ure table 2 pay 4 the drugs so u wud hav 2 cut the coke on a mirror and the veins that pump with fear is about when people tie a belt around there arm to show a vein to inject heroine. Plus he says fix me which is saying that he wants another fix of coke or other drugs and he is saying that the drugs are controlling you.
