i have traveled so far to find so little
meaning in tragedy or tragedy
in the search for the meaning
dark clouds have lead me here
confined freedom
guides us to secure..security
what if everything
i have been taught is a lie and all of my teachers
have been wrong this whole time
compelling us to fight
the battles they would not
they have already won
and we have already lost
if we do not learn from their mistakes
we have already lost
if we don't learn to change

Review about Meaning In Tragedy Meaning In Tragedy, Indeed | Reviewer: s.g.1016@gmail.com | 1/31/09
First off, Bravo Chris, Well put. There IS meaning in suffering, pain, or tragedy.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
C.S. Lewis once said, "God whispers to us through our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world."
I was told by an old friend of mine, that C.S. Lewis is right in that "God shakes us awake in his final warnings." He said, "Life is designed to wake us through the misery, to our sin. That sin should lead us to the cross, where we find forgiveness, and God waiting the entire time, to love and lead us away from this place."
Ultimately, in the end it's up to the individual whether to accept or reject God. I grew up believing in God, but soon found myself turned from him, because I found it hard to believe in a God who could allow pain and suffering. I realized that pain and suffering is what's caused by man's free will, not God. It is through our God given free will that we are capable of sin, It is our own avarice that leads to our own self-destruction. It is man, that would harm man, not God. God wishes only to love us, wishes for us to WANT to seek him, he leaves that decision ultimately to you as an individual, to you his son or daughter, to whom he gave free will. The free will to reject or love him.
I pray, as one sole Individual convicted of my beliefs, that anyone reading this who has yet to find God, will find God, and allow him into their hearts.
The song title is meaning in tragedy | Reviewer: chris | 1/25/09
I completely disagree with the below statement. I'm NOT trying to push my religion on ANYONE. God is sovereign and his Grace is sufficient. Since he is sovereign I NEVER have to PUSH my beliefs on anyone. I present the truth. It is God who opens your heart to the truth. Not me.
I think that the teachers in this song are people who think that believing in God will get them earthly security: no sickness, death, loss of loved ones, etc. While in fact God never promises security from these things until we get to heaven, after believing on his son Jesus. these "tragedies" are God's fire that refines our faith if you are a christian. This is the MEANING IN TRAGEDY. It is for a good reason that we endure struggles.
If you are not a christian and you are reading this I want you to know that God loves you and wants to set you free from this world and bring you into eternal life. In fact, He killed his own son so you could enter. IT'S A FREE GIFT. You only need to have faith. The sin that you have done, and are born with, are no longer counted against you, but God forgives them and FORGETS them. You may have discovered that throughout your life that the world is weary, dissapointing, and empty. Some things, like pornography, selfishness, pride, drunkeness, talking bad about people so you can feel better - look good. I think that they do and I am a christian. But they are not the "living water" that we should be drinking from. They do not satisfy in the end, but they bring destruction.

About the review from Layla: Is this talking about how Christianity and other religions is pushed onto children at such a young age that they are brainwashed into believing in this false sense of security they call "God"?
These lyrics are fantastic. It's basically saying how we have been mislead into this false sense of security. And it makes you wonder, "What if all we have been taught isn't actually true?" We have to discover how to learn from the mistakes of our "teachers" to find out what is actual reality and what this world really is.
Brilliant.
