Nancy Boy Lyrics - Placebo
Review The Song (7)
Alcoholic kind of mood
lose my clothes, lose my lube
cruising for a piece of fun
looking out for number one
different partner every night
so narcotic outta sight
what a gas, what a beautiful ass.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me, me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me, me
Kind of buzz that lasts for days
had some help from insect ways
comes across all shy and coy
just another nancy boy.
Woman man or modern monkey
just another happy junkie
fifty pounds, press my button
going down.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me, me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me, me.
Does his makeup in his room
douse himself with cheap perfume
eyeholes in a paper bag
greatest lay I ever had
kind of guy who mates for life
gotta help him find a wife
we're a couple, when our bodies double.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me, me.
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal,
got the muse in my head she's universal,
spinnin' me round she's coming over me, me.
And it all breaks down at the role reversal,

Um... that's not a falsetto, that's his real voice. He jjust sounds like that.
Anyway, I havn't heard this song, just read the lyrics. IDK, it seems alright, Molko does have some writing talent, but his newer stuff is better. One reason I actually like Placebo, they haven't yt sold out.
Hurts. | Reviewer: Jane | 5/12/10
It hurts.
That's all I can say.
It hurts me, because it makes me think about Brian's past and how pople didn't accept him because of his look and sexual orientation...
Placebo makes pain turn into a plesoure. I know it sound crazy, but that's what I think.
The music hurts you but yet you enjoy.
Hard to explain... :)

what I loved is how it defined the times for a whole generation. the world really sounded like the song in a way that it never can again.
Also it inspired loads- like the visual artist that called himself 'nancyboy' i assume inspired by the song

An iconic 20th century rock song.
Nancy boy's lyrics are complimented perfectly by Molko's androgynous falsetto. He's really built a character around this song - the ambiguous image that he's carried on throughout his career was created by this song.
My personal interpretation is that it is referencing male prostitution - and the male/female reference throughout the song hints at bisexuality. I also think that the line "what a gas" is a about solvent abuse or animal nitrate. Humour and this dark theme make for a highly entertaining song. The courage that goes into the writing must be huge.
Congrats, Nancy Boys.

Placebo are a great band! I love their song every me every you I read some of their lyrics and I'm amazed at their ability (and courage) to write about stuff other artists are afraid to touch. Kudos!

This song combinates many different feelings.
How it is to be a girl and how to be a boy.
If you are a girl loves means differently than being a boy.But all these words that they sing (placebo) in that song sometimes make me feel happy without a reason and some other time being depressed, without reason also. You feel that love is so close to you that you can feel, smell, touch, fuck, but you cant feel fulfilled..
You are in the end nothing, nothing that somebody someday can make your skin again alive.Placebo are unique because they make you feel reality as something that can destroy and also rebuild your dreams.. My dream is to love someone and although that this may seem not suitable, placebo can make you believe, like they now something more than you, like they know the truth,,, they sing it... lets listen to them

After listening to 'Nancy Boy' by Placebo a few times I began to realise that they were talking about a transvestite. I think it was very clever the way they wrote it and I applaud them for it.I am, however, slightly perplexed as to the meaning of some of the other lyrics although I'm sure that, after listening to it a few more times I will reach a conclusion as to what they mean. Over all this is one of my favorate songs. Thank you Placebo, for yet another breath-taking performance in the world of rock!
