It is probably nirvana's most pure album in the sense that it is grunge at its grittiest and most basic - without all of the prog rock and excessive riffs that grunge came to be known for as the 90's moved on. The push and pull of brute force guitar is Black Sabbath gone punk. Kurt's voice is ripe and you can hear him biting off his tounge that is placed firmly in cheek to deliver pissed satire.
