Norah Jones crosses musical borders from jazz to soul to
folk-based pop. Jones' honey and smoke voice along with her
skill as a storyteller urges listeners to hear original and
classic songs, as if for the first time.
Norah grew up in Texas with her mom Sue. She got into jazz
while attending
Dallas' Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing
and Visual Arts. She always enjoyed singing but felt that
studying piano would be a more solid foundation. She
majored in jazz piano at the University of North Texas for
two years before taking a trip to New York city.
The trip started out as just a summer away from college,
but Norah quickly knew that she would not be leaving for a
while.

------ About the song Not My Friend performed by Norah Jones
Once again, very strong lyrics. For me I find this song depressing and that is why I like it. Especially the ending. "I'll be ok,
'cause when I back away,I'm gonna keep the handle of your gun in sight." The gun can be any number of things that can hurt or kill, for me its a smile.

------ About the song Come Away With Me performed by Norah Jones
It is a simple song, yet so meaningful for me. I will never forget it. I always choose to sing this song when I am asked to sing in gatherings or programs. I always find myself shedding a tear.
This song was introduced to me by a man who had the same love experience. We were both betrayed by our past loves. Then he asked me, "Come away with me" and he gave me a copy of the song. We were together for awhile and found love and comfort with each other.
In that brief moment, we were able to helped each other heal and even dream and plan for our future together. But then I had to let him go because my ex love threatened him and his son. I cannot let that happen.
It has been a long time now since the last time I saw him. This song is all I got...

Sorry.but I don't think that it's about her not being able to have an orgasm. And yes u do have a dirty mind. Not every song is related to sexual intentions. My intake on this song is the same as Ryskie.

------ About the song Cold Cold Heart performed by Norah Jones
What a wonderful rendition of a classic song!
Once in a very great while, an artist comes along who puts it all together. Norah Jones is such an artist. Whether an original piece, or reviving a classic, she can make virtually any kind of music she wants. She can be provocative or seductive, as she wishes. Adding just the right amount of piano to her ensemble, her music is a delightful release from all of the alleged music being churned out today.
"Cold, Cold Heart" is an excellent example of what Ms. Jones can do - advanced beyond her years.
What does the moon symbolize | Reviewer: Celeste
------ About the song Moon Song performed by Norah Jones
I woke up this morning wanting to hear this song. It's Thanksgiving morning. There's a lot to be thankful for. Why I wanted to hear this song was beyond me but it was it's slightly cheery and thankful mood. It somehow reflected my mental state when I awoke.
Reading the lyrics and finding meaning to it came to me after listening to it a couple of times. The mood continues as I go in thought of what it all means. The moon symbolized the beauty inside me ... the beauty I have inside that in the song she's drawn to, that she tries to make sense of. The moon also symbolized fulfillment and where the moon goes when it seemed to have gone out of the western skies... it's in one's soul. After having this interpretation solidify in my head, my thoughts, my heart felt nurturing - both to myself and others.

------ About the song I'll Be Your Baby Tonight performed by Norah Jones
close your eyes, close the door
you don't have to worry anymore
'cause i'll be your baby tonight
shut the lights and shut the shade
you don't have to be afraid
'cause i'll be your baby tonight
well that mockingbird is gonna sail away
we're gonna forget it
that big fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon
we're gonna let it
you won't regret it
kick your shoes off
and don't you fear
bring that bottle over here
'cause i'll be your baby tonight
well that mockingbird is gonna sail away
we're gonna forget it
that big fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon
we're gonna let it
you won't regret it
kick your shoes off
and don't you fear
bring that bottle over here
'cause i'll be your baby tonight
'cause I'll be your baby tonight
'cause I'll be your baby tonight
‘What am I to you’ follows true jazz tradition while keeping with Jones’ style of incredibly smooth and comforting music. The track begins with the bass guitar which is soon joined by an undulating lead with conspicuous strokes, creating a surprisingly upbeat yet relaxed feeling. The drums roll in, blending in with the mood and gets you tapping your feet. Jones’ refreshingly deep and airy voice begins the verse, the buoyant music continuing in the background. Her voice and style lend authenticity to the lyrics. It is the classic case of the lover who’s ready to give her all, has infact given her all, and now has nothing but questions and a longing for reciprocation. The bass line compliments the song, more than just giving it the fullness it is meant to. There is a change of mood in the third, fourth and fifth verses, a heightened sense of longing caused by the sustained notes and the perfectly matched seconds. A classic riff appears in between that fits in really well. The track descends to its casual smoothness in the last verse.

This song actually is my wedding song. My fiance & I will be married Sept/08. This is the song that was playing the night he proposed. It's a beautiful song. Every time I hear it, it reminds and will forever remind me, of the night I said yes to spending the rest of my life with my best friend. Love you, Nick. xoxo

------ About the song Don't Know Why performed by Norah Jones
This is one of my favorite songs and I relate a lot to what I think the lyrics mean.
To me, I think the singer is talking about how she fell in love with someone, and planned to meet up with them, but didn't show because she feels she isn't worthy for love, althou she regrets not showing up.
"Come Away With Me" is the most beautiful song ever.. it will truly bring tears to your eyes.. I fall in love with it everytime i here it... over & over again!-- I love you Norah!

Maybe I have a dirty mind, but hearing those lyrics "I don't know why I didn't come" over and over again suggests she's not getting any satisfaction from the man she is singing about or the relationship. I think the music is stronger than the lyrics personally. It was a monster hit though, so you can't argue with that. As a songwriter myself, I sense abit of wrtiter's block in a couple of verses (the last verse and the first)(more the last) You know, like when you settle with some naff words coz you have a deadline or you just want to finish the damn song otherwise it won't ever get finished. Great melody anyway. Beautiful performer, only weakness for me is some of the rhymes in the verses. You don't have to rhyme!

I want this to be my wedding song. It's beautiful. It makes me want to love someone for the rest of my life, and be with them and hold them. It's not the sweet conversation, and I don't need a soft light to enchant me. I just need you to be near to me. It's a beautiful song and it makes my heart sink to my stomach (in a good way) when i hear it.

------ About the song Thinking About You performed by Norah Jones
this is a very soft and nice song.
the song is so calming yet at the same time so emotional.....
Saw you at the Chevrolet Theatre in CT last nite. Loved your show. Had never heard this song & greatly appreciate your bravery & sentiment.
Only problem....did not like M. Ward. He's a very talented musician, as you all are, but his voice was so off that it was disturbing.
Thank you for such a moving nite.
