Touring around the country, living in a van with four of
your closest friends, and selling thousands of albums; this
is the dream of many young bands. It's been a reality for
Norma Jean, one of the hardest working bands in hardcore
today.
Playing over 200 shows in Europe and North America during
2001, they plan on matching that number for 2002. "By the
end of September, we'll have played 100 shows in a row with
only a few days off," says Daniel Davison, the band's
drummer. "I'm really hoping to go back to Europe this
January, but it's still up in the air right now."
"Bless the Martyr And Kiss the Child," the band's new
album, was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage,
Everytime I Die). With influences ranging from metal, power
violence, and hardcore More...

------ About the song Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste performed by Norma Jean
Norma Jean was good in their first 2 albums, but after that it turns more into just plain old rock if you ask me. Hardly any screaming and they lost all of their root elements that i loved them for.
By the way, just to educate some people, the vocalist for the whole album was Josh Scogin (and Aaron Weiss in this song). Josh is a former member of NJ and now current vocalist for The Chariot, who is a much much much better band at this point than NJ.

------ About the song Human Face, Divine performed by Norma Jean
by far, this is the greatest song of NJ, it has all the power of the music and the screams are so fucking awesome, you can actually understand what is he saying, not like the screams of "hard-emo-core" bands.
i remember when o' god the aftermath came out and everyone i knew hated it. "it's not hardcore anymore!" the truth is that this album transcended hardcore and reached the level of genius that bands like Botch, Converge, and Isis all set. For a band that everyone considers to be "christian scene metal blah blah" Norma Jean hit a mark that many psuedo-intellectual metal bands haven't even come close to.21
Yah my band is playing this tonight.. and i'm playing bass and doing the devastaion vocals at the end. I love the lyrics and i was just checking in to make sure i really know them lol.
like the first time i ever heard this song i never understood what it ment, and i still dont totally today, but i guess im content with that cuz the song itself means alot to me- talking about all the mistakes we as humans have made, but still being able to come out with your head up and feel cleansed , if you want to be anyway. God is amazing, and this song is a true testament to what a man can feel about himself after many upon many of mistakes if he wants to feel renewed and content with knowing he will continue to make mistakes till the day he passes away.
Much love

------ About the song Dooley performed by Norma Jean
Thanks so much for posting the CORRECT lyrics! I looked everywhere for them, but people kept saying "molasses by the ton" and I was pretty sure that wasn't right. Thanks a ton... er, drum...! (:
Once Ryan brought up the discussion of abortion...and looking at the lyrics thinking of this subject...it would make perfectly good sense. "and killers will rise. Where have we gone wrong?" with the things that he said, it all fits. This is something i love about Norma Jean...they're willing to bring up such conroversial subjects that people shy away from. Pick a side, and take a stand.
The only words that I can see is wrong here is:of Mama alone in the kitchen mending clothes by an ol or old oil light. My mama used to sew clothes by an old oil or kerosine light. hope this helps. I can see Norma Jean by your picture that your not old enough to remember kerosine lamps or oil lamps as the oil light fits better in this song. that brought back precious Memories Of my Mama. Ina
They add a verse in Pike County KY | Reviewer: Diane
------ About the song Where The Roses Never Fade performed by Norma Jean
I learned this verse, too, don't know if Metzgar wrote it or it was added later. It's what the first writer refers to when she wrote: We will brief from temptation
In this world we have our troubles
Satan's snares we must evade
We'll be free from all temptation
Where the roses never fade
The lyrics are correct, but you have to have experience in listening to music like this, it isnt easy to follow it along. he repeats stuff over and over and the first lines are almost like the chorus
he says we walk on glass 3 times, before saying all day long
then he says with eyes rolled back, rolled back rolled. with eyes rolled back, rolled back, rolled

Where The Roses Never Fade
I am going to a city
where the streets with gold are laid
where the tree of life is blooming
and the roses never fade
Here they bloom but for a season
soon their beauty is decayed
I am going to a city
where the roses never fade
Loved ones gone to be with Jesus
in their robes of white array
now are waiting for my coming
where the roses never fade
Here they bloom but for a season
soon their beauty is decayed
I am going to a city
where the roses never fade
where the roses never fade
