Born in 1970, Paul Potts was raised in Fishponds, Bristol,
by his English father Roland, a bus driver, and Welsh
mother Yvonne, a supermarket cashier. He has two brothers
and one sister, and attended St. Mary Redcliffe school
where he first developed his love of singing. He was a boy
treble in the choir at Christ Church in Bristol city
centre. “They had to put me in the organ loft because I
sang louder than anyone else.”

From the age of six Paul was bullied at school for being
poor. To escape the bullies, Paul joined music clubs and
retreated even more into his singing. Despite encouragement
from his parents, and from his music teacher, Philip
Weaver, Paul’s self-confidence dwindled away.

I was overwhelmed by your perfomance on Britains got talent when shown to me by my boss. I came home and watched all the videos emailed to all my friends and family. I then found your CD and ordered it right away. I am listening to it as I write this. I also purchased ticket to your concert in CT on March 5th. I am loking forward to seeing you in person. Congratulations Paul, Pavaratti would be proud of you as my friends and I are.

I saw the clips of Paul Potts performances on Britains Got Talent and I wept. Paul is marvelous and I hope he goes on to great things. I only hope I can someday attendd a live performance. I have never listened to opera but it is now one of my favorite mediums and I am trying to learn Italian so I can understand it better. Congratulations to Paul.
