British pop outfit S Club has confirmed they have split by releasing a statement. The band - Jo O'Meara, Tina Barrett, Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh - had made a live announcement on stage at London's Docklands Arena last night, 21 April 2003. The statement reads, "With any job there comes a time to move on and to face new challenges. We've had a fantastic four years in S Club. We've experienced so much more than we ever imagined and we've enjoyed a huge amount of success." "We can't thank each and every one of our fans enough for their constant support and we hope that they will continue to support and understand us in our decision." The song has a sweet little feeling of happy love, and wanting to shout it to the world. I and a person close to me have a connection with the colour blue, so this song is a natural for us. Lyrics are well thought out and don't feel hurried or "jammed" into the musical space. All in all, one of SC7's best songs and a must-have for the collector. The song appears on the CD-album "7" as Track Nine. Buyers of the "7" album (the only album in which this song appears with the properly-mixed vocals) should be aware that this second offering by the group is quite a bit different in flavour than "S-Club," their first album. However, don't let this deter you! The sophomore disc shows a good deal of maturation (sound-wise) from the freshman publication. In hindsight, if the group had lost more of the tendency toward "rap" and stayed with the bubblegum themes and ambiences, they could have had a smash album on the order of "Spice." Again, however, I must emphasize the outstanding vocals on the album in general, with "The Colour of Blue" being the most pure and demonstrative example. I would have been delighted if they had stuck in an a capella section in this particular song! Was pleased to hear that there's going to be an S Club 3 reunion. Pity that all seven can't be had, but three is more than could be hoped for in and of itself. In sum, your money isn't wasted on getting the album -- even in order to hear just this one tune.
