Social Distortion is fundamental to the generation of
American punk rock that exploded in the early 80's. For the
past two decades, the band has unleashed its brand of punk

    Review about Social Distortion

Take away this ball and chain | Reviewer: TheSkaPunk
------ About the song Ball And Chain performed by Social Distortion

Diane, no offense, but you're a bitch. I think anyone with a fucking brain can figure out what he's trying to say, without you showing your intellectual supremacy and showing how fucking smart you are. Pfeh. Worm.

Anyway. This song's timeless--I've heard it all over the place in my years, and it always seems to ring true with at the very least one person.

For me, it rang true for years. Except, my ball and chain wasn't booze, drugs, or a woman. For me, it was my past. Some things we can't come to terms with, until we close our eyes, stop thinking, and charge right into 'em.

One of Social D's best songs, and easily one of the greatest songs I've had the fortune to hear in my life.

    (Rock on, Mike Ness.)

------ About the song I Was Wrong performed by Social Distortion

For the past two years I hasve been fighting with myself against satanism. I spoke with the Chaplain about five days ago and now I am saved. The first time I heard this song I immediately felt it is perfect in descvribing the past two years of my life and have adopted it as my personal theme song. I LOVE it.

------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

Awesome song, being a punk band doesnt mean you have to ensure your lyrics and songs fit into a specific genre, it means you sing what you want. To say "Hey i just wrote this song but i better not sing it because it people will say it's not punk" goes against punk ideology anyway. Ness is a very thoughtful person who can write very powerful songs. Love Social D

Reach for the Sky | Reviewer: eddie hobbs
        ------ About artist/band Social Distortion

Its So unfair my parent's Say i'm to young to understand stress and love and hate, i mean come on?! i have a girlfriend!. i'm 14 and SD are my fav band, reach for the sky is my fav, its turned my life around, i was right at the edge and sd brought me back so thanks Mike And all the band.

------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

social distortion are a fucking brilliant punk band.
if people are gonna be dickheads about it and say that theyre shit n pussys n whatever then thats theyre fairly idiotic choice. but in my opinion when u get a room full of punks like me and stick angels wings on or sick boy or dont take me for granted the room fuckin shakes. im not jokin. a few beers in the black country in the west midlands in the uk and the punks fuckin gather. fair play Social D! keep it comin

------ About the song Don't Take Me For Granted performed by Social Distortion

this song has helped me through so much shit in my social life.. I personally think of this song as a reminder for those who help their closest people without getting any benefit from it theirselves but actually even losing other important people or things in their life and not even noticing their good work done that their efforts actually make some other people happy but their acts aren't even noted. This song is a way for me to think of everything I have sacrified for those who I love.

    Great Song! | Reviewer: Vic
------ About the song Ball And Chain performed by Social Distortion

This song is awesome. It really captures the sadness and loneliness and hopelessness and despair. I feel exactly as the song describes right this moment and it was great to hear it put into words and song.

    . . . . Great song. | Reviewer: TheSkaPunk
------ About the song Angel's Wings performed by Social Distortion

...This song reminds me of my girlfriend. Not the singer, of course--that'd be a tad creepy--but the message behind it. And, this is one of the few songs that is able to instill a sense of hope.. well, at least it does for me. Dunno 'bout anyone else.

------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

so a got a bad bootleg of other lyrics for this song when M. Ness originally. wrote it. It starts "welfare mom drinks her self to sleep, while her children silently weep" however the song distorts half way through the recording. i like the message better than the released version. If anyone knows where the lyrics are or have a better recording of the alternate version it would be appreciated.

    really guy? | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

dont get mad at these kids because they dont like social d (aka real music)im sure it comes down to there parents and how they were raised. its really just a vicious cycle....haha but really though these dudes suck, they are plain and simple ignorant. if you dont like this song you dont like music, go play in traffic.

I love Social D's version of this song but.... | Reviewer: Hugh Jass
------ About the song Making Believe performed by Social Distortion

Making Believe is a great song and Social Distortion does a killer cover of the song, but Mike Ness didn't write this song.

Jimmy Work wrote this song in the 1950's and it has been performed by many people including Kitty Wells, Wanda Jackson and Ray Charles.

Jimmy Work isn't credited as the song writer because Sony owns the rights to the song and Social D's Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell album was released by Sony.

Been Done Before! | Reviewer: Diane
------ About the song Ball And Chain performed by Social Distortion

Don't like the song, and the title is misleading, to say the least. You
assume the "Ball & Chain" is a women, an old lady-it's NOT. It's the
empty gin bottle he's got there! LOL No, seriously, the booze addiction
is Social Distortation's 'ball and chain'.

Live Life as if it is Your Only One | Reviewer: fletch02184
------ About the song Reach for the Sky performed by Social Distortion

This song didnt change my view on the world or life, but thats because i feel that it describes how i already view the world/life. This song is great, definitely one of my favorites. Long live Social Distortion.

------ About the song I Was Wrong performed by Social Distortion

OMG i love this song the first time i heard it was at my friends house while we were playing rock band 2 and we were taking turns with each instrument and it was my turn to sing and this song came on. After that i fell in love with it! ♥

hmm... cry for attention? | Reviewer: Kevin Salas
------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

sounds to me like the "two people" that quote "hat" this song are the same person, I mean this person gave a bad review right after the last bad one. looks like we've got a severe case of attention-whoritis

NEW SOCIAL D FAN... | Reviewer: TRISH
        ------ About artist/band Social Distortion

I JUST STARTED LISTENING TO SOCIAL D, AFTER REALIZING THEY SING BALL AND CHAIN. HAVE BEEN READING ALL ABOUT THEM AND LISTENING TO/WATCHING AS MANY OF THEIR VIDEOS I COULD FIND. MIKE NESS HAS A BITCHEN VOICE. I'M GONNA BUY THEIR GREATEST HITS OR LIVE AT THE ROXY AS SOON AS I CAN FIND IT...

S.D. is defenatly on my top 10 of favorites | Reviewer: Chris
        ------ About artist/band Social Distortion

social distortion is labeled souly as a punk rock band but i disagree espicaly when you compair them to other punk rock bands of the time the exploited, fear, the misfits, anti-nowhere league, ect. to me social distortion is a fushion of blues, rock, and punk. it is very well put together. and reminds you or well atleast me about both the good the bad and the heartbreaking times growing up all at once. when i have a tough day i often find myself turning social distortion on my ipod and letting it play out when i get home. and so i give them 2 thumbs way up

    Angel's Wings | Reviewer: alley
------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

those people that just criticized the song...
fucking retards. yaaaah must've known they probably just listen to stupid rap songs that have no meaning at all.
so yah they should go jump off a cliff.

    SOCIAL D. | Reviewer: butthead.
------ About the song Angels Wings performed by Social Distortion

love so much im a younger fan but really love them and getting into all old school punk stuff there so fucking great and this song is my favorite.they were comming to Aus for the Soundwave festival but pulled out.shit aye.love em still.

How damn true... | Reviewer: Anna
------ About the song Making Believe performed by Social Distortion

Making Believe and Dear Lover are 2 Social D songs that hit home with me. I'm not sure what sort of place Mike was in when he wrote the latter but we have all been there...

Making Believe is a cover of a country song, I think and right now it describes my situation perfectly- he isn't here, can't be mine... making believe is indeed all I can do for the moment.
