Stopping All Stations Restrung Lyrics
Artist(Band):Hilltop Hoods
Verse 1– Pressure
Early morn, train station, aching from the arthritis,
This war veteran knows what a hard time is,
He needs his pension, dementia and half blind is,
The reason he rides the train with no car license,
So he boards with an expired ticket has a swipe,
Gets a fine cos the change he got don’t add up right,
We’re talking about a man that never lived a lavished life,
Caught up in the age of computer chips and satellites,
A lovely lady boards looking tired and half awake,
He smiles, she reminds him of his wife that passed away,
She says something as she walks right past his way,
His old hearing aid don’t last quite half the day,
Some young gentlemen alive with their laughter,
Approach the old timer and put a knife to his heart to,
Explain that money or bloods the price of their barter,
To a man whose friends probably died for their fathers.
Chorus
Whatever it takes can justify,
Whatever ends we make, whatever the price,
Till the end of a life is just an observation,
So take a ride we’re stopping all stations.
Verse 2 – Pressure
It’s been a long night the suns lifting on a cold,
Morning but she’s drugged and drunk tripping on her stroll,
On the way home, she’s done stripping on a pole,
But she can’t pay for her son living on the dole,
Jumps a train puts on her gloves she’s wearing black,
Being watched by some old mug she’s glaring back,
She’s on edge and got the bug from sharing smack,
So she says, “Hey, what the fuck you staring at?”
He smiles, an unsteady hand rubs on his dome,
She takes a seat, a messy band of ruffs board alone,
To the digger with a machete at his lungs and he’s prone,
He can barely stand but ready to stand up for his own,
She tries to help him she doesn’t choose to flee the car,
And catches a blow with enough bruise to leave a scar,
She starts fainting, the rooms moving and seeing stars,
Ain't it amazing how courageous human beings are?
Chorus
Whatever it takes can justify,
Whatever ends we make, whatever the price,
Till the end of a life is just an observation,
So take a ride we’re stopping all stations.
Verse 3 - Suffa
He knows nothing but hard work and scraping by,
Looking for a purse or wallet so he can make a buy,
He hasn't been on the nod since this morning,
He needs to touch the face of God, his skin it's just crawling
These peeps are sheep, time to fleece the market,
Jumps a train with some friends, sees an easy target,
An old man hard hit by age, fainthearted,
The kid pulls a knife like let's get started,
Come on,
A girl steps he's like eat the carpet,
Laughs with his friends like she's retarded,
The old man stepped and swept the assailant
Off his feet, his head connected with the railing,
You're weak the old man said as the kid lay recovering,
Blubbering, get to your feet I'll tell you another thing
A real man never lays his hands on a woman,
A real man would know that, no surprise that you wouldn't,
I didn't fight in two wars just so forty years later,
You'd have the freedom to rob me on the train, this behaviour
Doesn't fit with what I gave this country so cut me,
Won't live another day in a world that's so ugly.
So take a ride,
Coz we're stopping all stations.

Review about Stopping All Stations Restrung
my artwork | Reviewer: shaun | 11/20/2008
tbh, i created an artwork for school, i did very well on this. With a huge interest in hip hop, this song influenced me in my artwork. I created something that addressed issues in the song. The third verse is very good. Suffa's message of the song was different, but he really tried to establish that the idea of the song went beyond just these 3 people and that this is happening across the globe. I can really relate to this song and the words in the song because I have witnessed robberies. And it has been for like $50, and people have ended up having to be hospitalised. And Oman, you should really look at the last few lines by Suffa, He's talking about the behaviour of people in this world.. Oman nothing failed, you purely failed to see the message in the Restrung version. It is one like situation, a common situation, that was expressed through one man's perspectives based on his grandpa, that's how Pressure came up with the idea for the song. And after he did that, and they restrung it, Suffa gave his evaluation of Pressure's track and made his own opinions based on the situation they were talking about. I chose suffa's verse, and it was perfect for my artwork. and Oman, i'll finish with "World That's So Ugly" ... As if that doesn't sum up all of the issues in the song? The issues Pressure talk about are terrible, and the way in which Suffa expands on Pressures views, conveys this sense, well idea that these things are happening today, and have happened in the past, and that it is a common problem in this world, and the fact that a lot of this just happens and nothing is exactly done about it... Like the fact it can continue to go on, I know it's hard to monitor and all, but just people killing people for like $2, that's crazy. Those things create this ugly world we live in.
loving it | Reviewer: djh | 4/11/2008
I rate both songs - Doing the wrong thing can never be justified for the RIGHT REASON. I'm glad the old boy gave a hiding to the coward hunting in packs. Respect for looking out for veterans hoods, and Oman - unpathotic isnt a real word. Dont make words up to make yourself seem smarter. Often has the opposite effect.
RESTRUNG. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/5/2008
they were hardly going to make the song exactly the same as the original. i think the third verse is great. it's a branch off from the original story which makes the song & lyrics more interesting to listen to. it's a shame that not everyone can appreciate the talent and effort they put in for this song and in fact the whole album.
good work guys. keep the good stuff coming

Restrung adds new vibe | Reviewer: Chris | 2/5/2008
The restrung version improves the beat and changes the lyrics in the third verse. The new version just as emotionally powerful, if not more. Because this time, he gives the old man voice to show what he has been through.
Just an overall great song
Brilliant | Reviewer: Me | 1/29/2008
The change of lyrics suits the rearrangement with the Adelaide orchestra. It changes the song... so what? It's their song, Pressure changed it as he saw fit and I think it came out on top.
If you're really that concerned, listen to the original and put your fingers in your little ears when you hear this brilliantly restrung version.
Kudos to the Hoods for their work and especially Restrung. They are forever raising the bar for Australian (and international) hip hop.
message to oman | Reviewer: mike | 11/1/2007
the new ending makes the song diffrent. if it was the same as the original there wuld be no point for it. so quit ya bItching, how culd you say this was a failure, its one of there best songs yet
Altered feel | Reviewer: Oman | 10/15/2007
Well they changed the final verse of stopping all stations. And it shits me so much
The old version had a cathartic response because you saw everyones reasons for their actions, and were able to judge or justify. The new one has a horribly unpathotic response cause we idolise some old guy and neglect the kid. "Stopping all stations" was symbolic as a name and the format assisted that idea, in that they were "stopping" at all the "stations" that were people's points of view. This one changes the story so that instead of thinking "well he did the wrong thing for the right reasons and he could learn from it poor kid" from lines such as "concerned about the loss of life" we think "go old man you war fighting codger".
The idea is now that we are more concerned about a general "message" of morality and what is whole-ly "right" rather than looking at people's reasons and points of view.
Ultimatly a failed venture.

This is possibly one of Hilltop Hoods best songs, I prefer this over the original too. So much meaning and emotion.. Three cheers for the Hoodies!
