Please, leave all overcoats, canes and top hats with the doorman.
From that moment you'll be out of place and underdressed.
I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it.
Ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring and...

When you're in black slacks with accentuating, off-white, pinstripes
Whoa, everything goes according to plan.

I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Next is a trip to the, the ladies room in vain, and
I bet you just can't keep up with, (keep up) with these fashionistas, and
Tonight, tonight you are, you are a whispering campaign.
I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shh...

Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that "I'm a diva!"
Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table,
they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin.

I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
I've never looked better, and you can't stand it

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
I've never looked better, and you can't stand it

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

hmm... | Reviewer: Mrs.urie | 3/9/09

I love this song!!!!!! So much!!!!! When will panic play in Ireland?!?!?! I think the title is sort of disdainful and condescending, you know "you just haven't thought of it yet" which brings back the ex girlfriend thing... But who actually cares, its an AMAZING song!!!! Definately one of my favourites. Now, bye!!! Gonna look up "time to dance" ;):);):):):):)

The Song Means... | Reviewer: Randomist | 2/24/09

Are you people idiots?... the girl that he's talking about is obviously an ex girlfriend or is suppose to portray her and where as she use to think she was more important than him... he's at a so called Banquet and he's so confident so he stands out but she blends in... he's getting all the attention where as she is getting none because he has finally became better than her... so she is jealous

woot | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/11/08

basically cancer is something which is hard to get rid of and 'you can't stand it' but he's referring to himself when he sings it maybe saying how he overshadows every one. Im the new cancer...
Great song to sing along too

P!ATD! | Reviewer: charliee | 11/13/08

I love Panic!.
they are totally awesome!
and this song just gets me singing and dancing every time.
personally i think it's about the revenge thing..
like she thinks he's going to need her but then he shows up all confident!..
But there's no point over annalizing it..
just enjoy it and sing along...
:)

This is one of my favorite PATD songs evarr. The vibrant mood is sooo awesome, it fits the band and it's not like other songs that are so emotive and all. And yeah. I just don't get the title, either.

yay!! | Reviewer: jojo | 9/2/08

this is an awesome, awesome, awesome song.
i just don't get the title. at all. funny how nobody's mentioned that yet.

i'm currently doing some choreography for this song. i've gotten about halfway through.

This song can be as deep as you want it to be. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/11/08

I agree with Sam. It isn't always about over-analyzing, it's about how much the song means to the individual person. Certain songs appeal to me lyrically but this is one of those songs that could be talking about toast and I would still love it. By the way, my favorite line is, "Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears and keep telling yourself that I'm a diva!!" But the point is, people like different songs for different reasons and shouldn't focus so much on everyone else's perceptions.

What I think it means | Reviewer: michelle | 7/31/08

Well I think that the song is about a person who is losing their social status to someone else("I'm the new cancer never looked better you can't stand it"). And that person tries to ruin the other's reputation, but doesn't succeed (Because you say so under your breath, you're reading lips "when did he get all confident?)
But that person just doesn't want to give up but everything goes wrong (Next is a trip to the, the ladies room in vain, and I bet you just can't keep up with, (keep up) with these fashionistas, and
Tonight, tonight you are, you are a whispering campaign.
I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shh...)but she still tries even though there is so much gossip about him or her.

I LOVE THIS SONG! | Reviewer: Hollie | 7/20/08

This is my favourite Panic! song ever! it is so upbeat and fit in with their style. the bit at the beginning is the best part. i always sing it, and people look at me in a funny way. that obviously haven't heard the wounderus sounds of P!ATD. I got 'A Fever you can't sweat out' when it first came out and i loved it then and i love it now. i had kind of fogotten about this alubm because of Pretty. Odd. comming out amongst other things. but i found the case with it and the other day and just sat and listened to it. it came to this song and i got up and jumped around with my black jacket and top hat on (PLEASE NOTE: i am a GIRL aged 13!!!)
I just love it, and can't get enough of it. i even introduced my Mum to P!ATD now they're her favourite band too!! i think everybody should listen to P!ATD because their 'weirdness' uplists moods!!

I <3 PANIC! AT THE DISCO!!

xo,

Stop the fight jeez! | Reviewer: Myranda | 5/22/08

I think it's about revenge you know like Justin Timberleke and Cameron Diaz broke up and the next day they were at the same event and he looked sexy and she tryed to be a diva and dyed her hair brown! At least that's what I think of when I hear this...
