Please, leave all overcoats, canes and top hats with the doorman.
From that moment you'll be out of place and underdressed.
I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it.
Ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring and...

When you're in black slacks with accentuating, off-white, pinstripes
Whoa, everything goes according to plan.

I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Next is a trip to the, the ladies room in vain, and
I bet you just can't keep up with, (keep up) with these fashionistas, and
Tonight, tonight you are, you are a whispering campaign.
I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shh...

Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that "I'm a diva!"
Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table,
they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin.

I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
I've never looked better, and you can't stand it

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
I've never looked better, and you can't stand it

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

Review about There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey. You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet

yay!! | Reviewer: jojo | 9/2/2008
this is an awesome, awesome, awesome song.
i just don't get the title. at all. funny how nobody's mentioned that yet.

i'm currently doing some choreography for this song. i've gotten about halfway through.

This song can be as deep as you want it to be. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/11/2008

I agree with Sam. It isn't always about over-analyzing, it's about how much the song means to the individual person. Certain songs appeal to me lyrically but this is one of those songs that could be talking about toast and I would still love it. By the way, my favorite line is, "Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears and keep telling yourself that I'm a diva!!" But the point is, people like different songs for different reasons and shouldn't focus so much on everyone else's perceptions.

What I think it means | Reviewer: michelle | 7/31/2008

Well I think that the song is about a person who is losing their social status to someone else("I'm the new cancer never looked better you can't stand it"). And that person tries to ruin the other's reputation, but doesn't succeed (Because you say so under your breath, you're reading lips "when did he get all confident?)
But that person just doesn't want to give up but everything goes wrong (Next is a trip to the, the ladies room in vain, and I bet you just can't keep up with, (keep up) with these fashionistas, and
Tonight, tonight you are, you are a whispering campaign.
I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shh...)but she still tries even though there is so much gossip about him or her.

    I LOVE THIS SONG! | Reviewer: Hollie | 7/20/2008

This is my favourite Panic! song ever! it is so upbeat and fit in with their style. the bit at the beginning is the best part. i always sing it, and people look at me in a funny way. that obviously haven't heard the wounderus sounds of P!ATD. I got 'A Fever you can't sweat out' when it first came out and i loved it then and i love it now. i had kind of fogotten about this alubm because of Pretty. Odd. comming out amongst other things. but i found the case with it and the other day and just sat and listened to it. it came to this song and i got up and jumped around with my black jacket and top hat on (PLEASE NOTE: i am a GIRL aged 13!!!)
I just love it, and can't get enough of it. i even introduced my Mum to P!ATD now they're her favourite band too!! i think everybody should listen to P!ATD because their 'weirdness' uplists moods!!

I <3 PANIC! AT THE DISCO!!

    xo,

Stop the fight jeez! | Reviewer: Myranda | 5/22/2008

I think it's about revenge you know like Justin Timberleke and Cameron Diaz broke up and the next day they were at the same event and he looked sexy and she tryed to be a diva and dyed her hair brown! At least that's what I think of when I hear this...

wow. | Reviewer: made glorious summer;; | 1/13/2008

god. i just love panic at the disco. they're one of the greatest bands.
sometimes, a song is just a song. there's no need to overanalyze it. just enjoy it.

This song is not about that | Reviewer: Mett | 1/12/2008

It seems like he's at a party that an Ex is also at, and he is ruining her time by being confident because she figured he needs her but he really doesn't. It doesn't sound like a job at all.

    The girl? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/13/2008

Ah, why does everyone assume the song is about the person being described, and not the person doing the singing?

I always assumed it was a revenge song. The girl was a snobby bitch and when the guy she snubbed suddenly went up the social ladder, he got back at her.

I love how the song has this really vibrant personality to it, you can totally see this guy swaggering around in his fancy suit being so arrogant you can;t hep but admire him.

    Analysis | Reviewer: leilani | 12/27/2007

This song is basically about a person in a high ranking who looses their job. This person gets replaced by another person who changes everything that is going on with the company, this person is glad they are changing everything and they know that people dont like it: "im the new cancer, never looked better, you cant stand it." that means that they are basically taking over the company and changing everything: "because you say so out of your breath, when did he get so confident."that means that the person in command can tell that people dont like what they are doing

the meaning to me is.... | Reviewer: Cecee | 12/17/2007

well its about some one who is out of place. it seems to me like that person had a high rank to begin with and then lost it. or like the person has made enimies and now her enimies have turned her friends agains her and she dosent know how to deal with it. the song might be explaining the nature of people. when it talks about "sizing up". and thats true you dont feel good about yourself until some one says something bad about you ar something good.
