The atmosphere these songs (From Blackwater Park album and not only) is brilliant. so bleak, gray, but there's always a glimmer of hope shining (in this song, the ending, the piano bit). Opeth's strength will never be in it's technicality or progression, but in the passion, soul and heart thrown in their songs, all the emotions.

I've been listening to metal all my life and i must say it doesnt realy get any better than this.
Take a look around metal check out all the commercial metal bands, check out all underground metal bands. Dig as deep as u want... it wil all be dissapointing after hearing Opeth.

This is definitely as progressive as death metal can get before it evolves into contemporary progressive (with heavy riffs, and low pitched growling as well as screaming, but missing that element of heart Akerfeldt is so damn famous for) I would even go as far to say this song, as well as more than half the other tracks off Blackwater Park, perfectly encapsulates "Opeth".
