Say hello to the rug's topography
It holds quite a lot of interest with your face down on it
Say hello to the shrinking in your head
You can't see it but you know its there so don't neglect it

I'm taking her home with me all dressed in white
She's got everything I need pharmacy keys
She's falling hard for me I can see it in her eyes
She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys

Say hello to all the apples on the ground
They were once in your eyes but you sneezed them out while sleeping
Say hello to everything you've left behind
It's even more a part of your life now that you can't touch it

I'm taking her home with me all dressed in white
She's got everything I need some pills in a little cup
She's falling hard for me I can see it in her eyes
She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys

She's got everything I need pharmacy keys
She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys

Say hello to the rug's topography

His face in the rug | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/16/09

I read "say hello to the rug's topography" as him being wrestled to the ground and restrained in this mental asylum. He's sort of narrating his adventures in his head and speaking to himself. He is the one whose face is in the rug, because he is going insane and needs to be betrayed.

Love the lyrics.

All songs, not just those by APC and Tool, are open for interpretation. Many of these songs can have different meanings to different people. For example, many of the APC songs remind of me of my horrible ex. Although that's not what those songs were originally written for (obviously), no one should be called stupid just because they have their own interpretation of a song.
We can never know EXACTLY what someone meant when writing a song unless they actually tell us.

just listen | Reviewer: ben | 10/30/08

any song can be interpreted in anyway, alot of billy howardells songs are about love hate betrayal, but as soon as i heard this song i knew it wasnt his or maynards...to the point, i see it as a song about love and how it can feel like a drug not really a story of a druggie who loves a nurse, but i also think its cool because you can see it about recovery

piece of cake | Reviewer: Maynard | 10/28/08

This is one of those songs that really doesn't need to be read into that much. It is very straight foward and is a simple story about a patient at a hospital who fantises about a nurse falling in love with him. "She JUST acts like a nurse with all the other guys" as in she's more than JUST a nurse to him (he thinks).

this song is by FAILURE | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/14/08

most of you are completely stupid. this song was written by ken andrews of the band failure (apc covered it) and its about being addicted to heroin and falling in love with the nurse who takes care of him. this was already stated but i feel it should be stated again because so many of you are dead fucking wrong.

haha really creepy but eqally sweet | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/19/08

wow. way to interpret guys. really im impressed. lol no not really, but seriously it is about a crazie and it kinda sounds like a lulaby, so with those two pieces of the puzzle, i can only assume its a lulaby for crazies. A lulaby that includes sex, death, violence, possible prostitution, and insanity- but a lulaby all the less. so there. this is my lulaby.

it's way too simple. | Reviewer: shidairyproduct | 3/1/08

you guys are such idiots. he's talking about how he's fucking a hoe.

"say hello to the rug's topography,
it holds quite a lot of interest with your face down on it"

she's lying face down while he's having his way with her.

"she acts just like a nurse with all the other guys"

she's one of those role playing hoes.

"she's got everything I need, pharmacy keys."

an obvious druggie.

as far as "all the apples in your eyes," goes, it's symbolism for all the hopes and dreams she had for herself before she started whoring herself out. simple as that.

Freakin Crazies | Reviewer: Nancy | 1/11/08

I'm a nurse. Unfortunately there's a lot of loonies, excuse me, mentally ill persons out there who think like this. There is nothing beautiful about it to me. Rather scarey.

apc forevaaaa | Reviewer: BloodlineS | 1/11/08

okay you know what,i was skeptical about the dude killing the nurse, but now that I take a second look,it actually makes a lot of sense...

He says "say hello to the rug topography" ..that makes me think he sees her lying dead on the ground..and also the 3rd pararaph..apples on the ground, sneezed them out while sleeping..it all makes sense..that he killed her, kinda makes me think he drugged her or something..but is that possible? hmm...creepy :D

LOL | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/31/07

Good work all saying pretty much the same thing....very interperative. For any literate person I would hope they could gather as much just by reading the lyrics..
