Why would he come back through the park
You thought that you saw him, but no you did not
It's not him coming across the sea to surprise you
Not him who would know where in London to find you
Sadness so real that it populates
The city and leaves you homeless again
Steam from a cup and snow on the path
The seasons have changed from the present to past
The past...
There's hope to have
In the past...
Why would he come back through the park
You thought that you saw him, but no you did not
Who can be sure of anything through
The distance that keeps you from knowing truth
Why would he think, the boy could become
The man who could make you sure he was the one
The one...
My one...
My one...

Review about The Park empty hands | Reviewer: Harper | 10/25/09
I think we have ten fingers so that we can let go one at a time. Ten days, ten months, ten years go by and one day, when we're ready, we look down and wonder what to do with our hands.
The last time I saw her, she was walking away. I watched her until she was gone. The park is still there. Maybe I'll go climb a tree.
I was in a very destructive relationship. We brought out the worst in each other and yet there was so much love between us. After trying to get out of the relationship for months I bought a ticket to Amsterdam and left 12 hours later. Ten days later she found out where I was and showed up to surprise me. I wish I could say it went well. She left Amsterdam the next day and a couple of weeks went by before I flew back to LA. It was on that flight that I heard this song for the first time. I know in my mind that we could never be but sometimes my heart still wishes we were.
This song feels to me like a women who was in a relationship with a person who she could never really connect with, though she wanted to very badly. Maybe the man didn't have the emotional maturity to give her what she needed..."Why would he think, the boy could become, the man who could make you sure he was the one." This song hits exactly home with me.

This song is so f@#!ng beautiful. Every time I hear it have to stop whatever I'm doing. The transition from the one before it on the album into it is just perfect. You feel everything it tries to convey so clearly that even if nothing like this has ever happened to you, you'd feel sure that it had. Wonderful.

I am so in love with this amazing singer! I hear her voice and melt! No one, professional or otherwise, ahs ever made me feel as she does. I introduced her to Feist's music and she fell in love with this song. Now, whenever I see her, she sings it to me, and I have never felt so happy...
I hope Feist continues to be as wonderful as she has always been!

this song reminds me of me and my ex.
we used to go to central park everytime she came to new york. it was bliss. now, she probably takes him to where we once gazed upon the water by the fountain..... under the tree we held eachother.... how I wish I could keep that place safe... this song truly brings back a montage of memories... and how I feel at this moment. yay feistttt
