Tim Armstrong and myself (Rob Aston) formed Transplants in
December of 1999. I had just moved to Los Angeles and was
hanging out with Tim when he played me this beat he had
made on his Pro Tools System in his studio.
It was incredable, like nothing I had ever heard before. He
asked if I could write lyrics to it, and without hesitation
I said yes. Honestl, I was scared shitless because I had
never been in a band before. Not to mention, I was dealing
with Mr. Tim Armstrong from Rancid. Long story shor, we
recorded whenever we found time and gave it our all. But
something was missing. Tim had played all the instruments
by himself
and the drums were samples and loops. We realized we
needed to find the best drummer we could. SO we called up
Travis Barker from More...

------ About the song Diamonds And Guns performed by The Transplants
I first heard dis song on triple j (im from australia), and was taken with it from da first. And then to my horror- an ad on tv used it as its jingle! oh no i thought, have they gone commercial so soon? But then a few little ironies made it seem not so bad. First is the fact that most of the band are skinheads, and the ad was for hair gel.lol. But what really made me feel better was the thought that some advertising dickhead heard the song and thought " oh wow, they're talking about hair on something! We need a funky song for our hairspray client- they will love it!!!" and probably threw so much money at The Transplants that the band jus quietly took da money and laughed to themselves. Like the lyrics say, its a wicked world we live in...Anyways, apart from one other of The Transplants song, I haven't really heard anything else from them so I don't know how well they play their heavy rap style funk ( man, you cant really label music and expect it 2 be accurate) across a whole album, but this song definitely has a beat and rythmn you can bang to, and you can take it as an anthem or jus try and pick up on the dance floor while its playing. Jus play it.
