[Count-In: John Bonham] - "We've done four already but now we're steady
and then they went: One, two, three, four"
Singing in the sunshine, laughing in the rain.
Hitting on the moonshine, rocking in the brain.
Got no time to pack my bag, my foots outside the door.
Got a date, can't be late for the high hopes hailla ball.
Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar.
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more.
Singing about the good things and the sun that lights the day.
I use to sing on the mountains, has the ocean lost its way.
I don't know
na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na
Sitting round singing songs 'til the night turns into day.
Used to sing on the mountains but the mountains washed away.
Now I'm singing all my songs to the girl who won my heart.
She is only three years old and it's a real fine way to start.

Review about The ocean I'm the little girl | Reviewer: Norianne | 10/19/09
I just talked to my father yesterday who called me because he heard 'the ocean' somewhere. He was a big fan and told me that this was his song for me since I was a little baby girl (I'm now in college). I had to look up the lyrics to see what why my attributed this particular song to me. They made me smile. Peace. Love.
Ending | Reviewer: antawesome | 10/19/09
The last part min of the song is fantastic, i never heard anything like it. First they kick it off with a awesome riff and when thats not enough they give you that last part which makes this one of my favorite led zeppelin songs
Sweet Song and overlooked classic Zep! | Reviewer: bill | 10/1/09
it is playing now on the radio. this is one of their way overlooked great songs.
Oh and since this is off 'Houses...' here is a joke!
My daugher asked me for 25 cents. I said "i am sorry baby I am just like Houses of the Holy, i have "No Quarter."
she did not get it. My wife did not get it! The 14 year old kid across the street got it. He was suprised that an OLD guy would know who Led Zep was!
On the live disc, "How The West Was Won, Disc 3" I fell in love with the ending. I received that whole set for Christmas my 8th grade year of middle school. I am graduating next week and I'm still in love with the band and everything that goes along with it. I have listened to songs from all over the world in various languages and understand what the artist is saying, and never has an artist, even from other parts of the world, wrote the way that Led Zeppelin has. You can understand what he's saying, but with the way he writes, I feel like I'm there. Sounds crazy and delusional, but I can never get this band off of my mind.
led zeppelin is a blow back to my youth...they wiill always be my favourite band...i remember dropping the paper on my tongue and digging all my zep albums....houses of the holy was my first zep album but my parents brought me up on album number four and i remember my mom going over the lyrics to stairway to heaven with me and asking me what i thought they meant when i was just seven .!!!.. i had cool parents ...love them to death still..physical graffiti is the best album though.!!!
I heard thing song for the first time not that long ago and fell in love by instant, I love his sighs and noises, I am addicted to this voice already, and he is a great poet (and family man)dear old Percy I loved him in the seventies for the best I was born twenty years after he was ...
The Ocean | Reviewer: Andy Martin | 11/25/08
I've always loved this song even when it first came out. In fact it is my favorite Zeppelin song. I never could totally understand the lyrics but I loved rocking to it. Especially right before surfing so I could play it in my head on the waves. Now several years into the future I read the lyrics, these reviews on this site and I understand the meaning of the song, wow! I love this song more. It seams my favorite songs don't just have a good tune and beat, they tell a story. It creats an escape from the everyday, with a cool beat!
you got it all wrong.. | Reviewer: zoso08937 | 10/3/08

Most people miss the point... | Reviewer: Twos | 6/9/07
Folks, this song is a homage to the fans. The "ocean" is the sea of people at the concerts.
"Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar
Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more"
Not many bands acknowledge their fans in lyrics.
Robert Plant=aweesome | Reviewer: James | 2/28/07
I love how Robert Plant mentions his family in his lyrics. Like when he says "she is only three years old" he mentions how he loves his daughter. And also, in Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp he says "ain't no companion like a blue eyed merl" which is a type of welsh corgi... a dog. He's a great lyricist.
