Review about Tom Waits songs
What the song is *not* about. | Reviewer: Jonderson
------ About the song Tom Traubert's Blues (Four Sheets To The Wind In Copenhagen) performed by Tom WaitsThe song is clearly *not* about a soldier. The line at the beginning "my Stacy's are soaking wet" refers to Stacy Adams shoes. Very high end, fancy dress shoes. They would not be worn by a soldier, even one on leave. In addition, the line "I'm tired of all these soldiers here" seems to indicate that he is not one of them.
Tom. Yes, F.ing hell yes he is cool. | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song I Don't Wanna Grow Up performed by Tom WaitsGreat point about Sir Tom Waits. Toms presence brings his songs to life when performing, and the ramones are cool but they just kinda moan along. With musch less articulation and depth than tom waits. I would personally say its not even debatable, and that tom exudes the song in its true essence and the Ramones always leave a shit trail of smokey bog wherever they go, skeevy bastards.
tom waits green grass | Reviewer: matt faigan
------ About the song Green Grass performed by Tom WaitsThe soulfull sounds of a broken hearted man fits into my soul like a glove.and so does the double bass pounding that line unforgettably into my head like a cool stream. The mans a genius.

Hold On | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Kentucky Avenue performed by Tom WaitsTom Waits is the fleeting glimpse of divine and diabolical. The inspiration in that space where memory meets fantasy. They kiss, make love and spawn tall tales. There's a place inside of all of us where the big dog on the corner lot is Cerberus, the pretty girl at the end of the block is Circe, and we're all equal parts Hercules and Odysseus, with a dash of Dionysus for flavor. This song expresses his childish innocence with that devilish wit better than most. For those of you just getting familiar with this gutter poet; I envy you. You're in for one hell of a ride.
ANOTHER correction | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Jockey Full Of Bourbon performed by Tom WaitsThis corrects "Singerland ride" to "Slingerland ride," a reference to Slingerland-brand cymbals. Full version corrected below. Thanks...
Edna Million in a drop dead suit
Dutch pink on a downtown train
Two dollar pistol but the gun won't shoot
I'm in the corner on the pouring rain
Sixteen men on a deadman's chest
And I've been drinking from a broken cup
Two pairs of pants and a mohair vest
I'm full of bourbon; I can't stand up.
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire; your children are alone
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire; your children are alone
Schiffer broke a bottle on Morgan's head
And I've been stepping on the devil's tail
Across the stripes of a full moon's head
Through the bars of a Cuban jail
Bloody fingers on a purple knife
Flamingo drinking from a cocktail glass
I'm on the lawn with someone else's wife
Admire the view from up on top of the mast
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire; your children are alone
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire; your children are alone
Yellow sheets on a Hong Kong bed
Stazybo horn and a Slingerland ride
To the carnival is what she said
A hundred dollars makes it dark inside.
Edna Million in a drop dead suit
Dutch pink on a downtown train
Two dollar pistol but the gun won't shoot
I'm in the corner on the pouring rain
Hey little bird, fly away home
Your house is on fire; your children are alone

an introduction to ''Tom Waits '' | Reviewer: jonr
------ About the song Kentucky Avenue performed by Tom WaitsI heard this song about 5 years ago i have never been so moved by a lyric,
recording those special fleeting days of boyhood, now a very distant but sharp memory.(I belong to the 1st teeangers group ie born during WW11) I became an ardent fan of the Tom Waits poet, singer and musician.
I play this track all the time and it always sounds as if i am listening for the first time.
