Toxicity Lyrics - System of a Down
Review The Song (21)
Conversion, software version 7.0,
Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub,
Eating seeds is a pastime activity,
The toxicity of our city, of our city,
no, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder, disorder,
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence,
Sacred silence and sleep,
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep,
Disorder, disorder, disorder.
More wood for their fires, loud neighbors,
Flashlight reveries caught in the headlights of a truck,
Eating seeds is a pastime activity,
The toxicity of our city, of our city,
no, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder, disorder,
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence,
Sacred silence and sleep,
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep,
Disorder, disorder, disorder.
You, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder-er-er-er
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence,
Sacred silence and sleep,
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep,
Disorder, disorder, disorder.
When I became the Son,
I shone life into the man's hearts,
When I became the Son,
I shone life into the man's hearts.
Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub,
Eating seeds is a pastime activity,
The toxicity of our city, of our city,
no, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder, disorder,
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence,
Sacred silence and sleep,
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep,
Disorder, disorder, disorder.
More wood for their fires, loud neighbors,
Flashlight reveries caught in the headlights of a truck,
Eating seeds is a pastime activity,
The toxicity of our city, of our city,
no, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder, disorder,
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence,
Sacred silence and sleep,
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep,
Disorder, disorder, disorder.
You, what do you own the world?
How do you own disorder-er-er-er
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence,
Sacred silence and sleep,
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep,
Disorder, disorder, disorder.
When I became the Son,
I shone life into the man's hearts,
When I became the Son,
I shone life into the man's hearts.

USA gov sucks dick | Reviewer: jordan | 3/16/12
americans fucked this world. everything was happy days before those fuckers wanted everything for themselves and make us slaves. times havnt changed much and they still have the same evil plans they did 100 years ago. i am no racist but i hate the fact the government controls everyone to go to work etc. they start looking like they are doing the right thing gain people on there side and start pointing the finger at people like me just trying to get by. they would rather see me dead then survive... why? because i have no money therefore i am "so-called" powerless and no reason of being here. they have this idea if everyone works together we can make this a better place but they are only doing it for themselves for more power and money. everybody has a reason to be here, everybody is unique.. THEY GET OFF OVER CONTROL! FUCK THE WORLD!!
the song is good to be heard only as a song , without judging anything!! | Reviewer: maleeza | 11/23/11
hey all, we need not talk o judge about the politics or the artist or the band or any cities or others...just see the song and music as it is because music and songs are not important as humanbeings , common all God created us not to judge other people but to develop what is given... if we judge others at present others may judge you in future... anyone who disobeys God will be anyways judged by the Almighty God so why would we worry to complain on others..so simple like that just listen to the song as a song.. you need not take them into your lives but take the good meaning out of it and push off the bad messages out of it... take the good and forget the bad we as living beings...our bodies may die but our souls will rest eternally as i have recieved and accepted jesus into my life..and thats salvation...so anyways finally what i have to say is that its just a song... i can fit into the song which is ok as to my wish and senses but i am not gonna love it o like it because its my point of view....God bless all
obama? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/11/11
look im from england and its not hard to see why people are blaming obama for problems in the econemy, we had the exact same problem with gordon brown and now with the new coalition government, brown just happened to be in office when the econemy took a downturn and so everyone blamed him, then con-dem took over and now they are the bad guys because unemployment is up and we are having to make cuts in funding everywhere to save the econemy, same situation with bush and obama, bush put the country into decline with the iraq war and now obama is having to play clean up and everyones bitchin about it. obama is just sortign out the mess bush made in the first place.
hey hey hey | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/26/11
I think it has a deeper meaning....sorry my english sucks a little but Ill try to explain....
We may except that the song is written and aims to satisfy the need of making art as a way of presenting some kind of emotions....but its not only the emotion included...It seems that the author preserves knowledge that is difficult to be presented and so it was followed the path of music...
Thats the situation nowadays...toxicity all over the world-poverty,hunger,disinformation and so on.But thats a reflection from whats happening in our souls and the spirit world-a disorder which occured not only here on basic level.Thats the most important thing for me...The author sees the world at atomic level through the eyes of all human kind and he also sees the entire picture as an observer who is capable to observe the hidden spirit world which gives its vibrations to us and our life...someting like that :D

I think this song is about the how horrible the modern music industry is. Since the toxicity album cover is modeled after the "Hollywood" sign, and it is talking about the corruption of a city that is best known for it's movie and musical elements, it only makes sense. "Eating seeds as pastime activities"? Drugs.
wtf r the politics for??? | Reviewer: rebecca | 8/11/10
why r u saying this song is about obama? guys come on. look it up. this song came out way before the bush administration even ended, so how could it even be about obama? and to b perfectly honest, i think we fans read into there songs 2 much. they r a group of arminians! wouldnt it b safe 2 assume that most of there songs r about their own homeland? and its issues? sure, they have quiet a few that r related 2 american politics...but not all. and really, i think most of their songs r actualy about the world as a whole and its filth... i mean, i live in america and we r indeed wasteful slobs full of coruption...but then again the rest of the world isnt totally innocent, and im sure that such a group as soad knows this and im sure they make songs that fit into every country and its history. im not sticking up fr america, but the rest of the world is pretty fucked up 2. so wouldnt their songs b about this terrible place we call earth? and how its all shit?
SOAD/politics | Reviewer: me | 6/7/10
beatiful song, soad are genius.almost as good as RATM
bush=unintelligent, greedy idiot puppet of cheney, rove, etc.
obama=someone who is trying to change but failing.
bush was the one who sent the economy into the downward spiral.
food for thought: capitalism got us into the great depression, socialism got us out.

Awesome Song, Meaningful Lyrics!
No need to talk politics. The song makes part reference to many politcal issues in the states. But i don't care about that, i love the song. I am australian, so i don't really worry about political issues in the USA
Presidents. | Reviewer: Mysti | 5/4/10
For those of you who think Obama is more powerful and a better ruler than ex-President Bush, think about this. George Bush had unemployment rates down to a mere 5 to 6 percent on average in each state, some ranging anywhere from 2 percent to around 8 or 9 percent. Now, with Obama and his economy downpours, unemployment rates have absolutely skyrocketed to over 15 to 20 percent per state on average! Where in these statistics do you see a positive in Obama? More companies are going out of busiuness, there are more people being put on welfare and in government housing, etc where George Bush had businesses practically thriving, and while yes there were people stablized in government housing, there were millions more who had their own house, and a job to support themselves and their family. Now, tell me why Obama is such a great person?

If you think Obama is any better than Bush you're a mindless idiot.
"All of our cities aren't so much of civilized because one man: George W. Bush"
What does that even mean? All the major cities in America were shitholes way before Bush was in office.
obama | Reviewer: ryan kepert | 1/12/10
obama as we can all plainly see, has been placed in his position to keep things the way they are, he is not your savior, just another scapegoat, a puppet inspiring hope so we all shut up for another few years.
very meaningful | Reviewer: JaDarrius Lewis | 1/7/10
I practice their songs and I understand the meanings to their songs, especially this one. All of our cities aren't so much of civilized because one man: George W. Bush. But we dont have to put up with his mess anymore. Obama can help change America but he is going to have to pick up the pace. I believe in the meaning of this song and I believe that Obama can help bring America back on it's feet. Can't wait for SOAD to come back. I will still practice your songs!!!! SOAD 4LIFE!!!!!

"has anybody ever thought that they are just writing random shit down? that they aren't really that into politics? for real, sometimes insanity can be confused with genius. and sometimes being retarded can be confused with cool."
I studied music fulltime, when you're playing a guitar for up to 14 hours a day, you get good at guitar, not politics, economics, psychology or philosphy - you don't somehow infuse information. You learn about those other things at university and over years of work in related jobs. Musicians have ideas, but the ideas are limited by the confines of their limited knowledge, ie only impressive to the musician, and young people who have yet to study much. Musicians are entertainers - similarly, give Obama a guitar and see if he starts to shred - fat chance. Lyrics often inflate the most mundane idea or activity. System is great entertainment, but if you're looking for genius, you'd be closer in the direction of Chick Corea Elektric Band.
well. | Reviewer: RyanEffinRiot | 10/19/09
I'd never been really big on SOAD until i started getting a ride home from my brothers best friend in high school. he listened to SOAD more often than not.
they do have really great shit out and the only problem i have with that is that people still sit and talk like they're the best thing thats ever happened to this world.
has anybody ever thought that they are just writing random shit down? that they aren't really that into politics? for real, sometimes insanity can be confused with genius. and sometimes being retarded can be confused with cool.
