Weak And Powerless Lyrics

Review The Song (27)Print the Lyrics
Tilling my own grave to keep me level
Jam another dragon down the hole
Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren
One that pushes me along and leaves me so

Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless over you

Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom

Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless over you

Little angel go away
Come again some other day
The devil has my ear today
I'll never hear a word you say
Promised I would find a little solace
And some peace of mind
Whatever just as long as I don't feel so

Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless

Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless
Over you

I love the sound of A Perfect Circle, a little different from Tool, and toned down a little cuz I can't really handle/understand Tool's music because its so...hypnotic and insane to a stoned level. It scares me, man. I love the beat and tone of this song. Wow.

r u f**ckin kidding me HEAR THE MUSIC TOOL FANS WTF!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/20/09

ok people "someone feed the monkey" ie...watch over my reality as i "while i dig in search of china WHITE" while i get high not off heroin or pills people WHITE!!! " while as dracula as i aproach the bottom" as i feed on the deepest of love and desire i am addicted to what brings me to the end of what is un real....to only leave me to have no other choice but to turn around and return to home... "Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless over you" ok so i admit it which leaves me clearly in control however... "Little angel go away
Come again some other day
The devil has my ear today
I'll never hear a word you say
Promised I would find a little solace
And some peace of mind
Whatever just as long as I don't feel so" JUST LET ME TAKE A FUCKIN BREAK!!! therefore there is no addiction it is complete control!!!!! LISTEN TO THE WORDS AND HEAR THE REASON BEYOND HIS REASON FOR SHARING!!! just give me a minute and i will be right back...i will not get lost!! MAYNARD IS GENIUS!!!!!!! please feel free to comment

"over you" | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/29/09

yes, anyone can take any song how they want. many song writers wont even release what they were think when the wrote for that very reason. however in the amotive dvd commentary maynard clearly states that every song on this album is about addiction in one way or another. and goes on to say that it is applicable to any addict, not only drug addicts but it could be sex or any other behavioral addiction. as a recovering junkie myself i do see it as a dope song but thats the beauty of art; take what you want and leave others to do the same.

Definitely not "china white" hes saying "white as dracula".

Also "someone feed the monkey...", i believe, is referring to the term "monkey on my back", or something that is constant and persists. That something being heroin, or other opiates, such as painkillers. i.e. hydrocodone, oxycodone, oxymorphone, all of which are opium derivatives and can almost as addicting as heroin.

To "Stfu Bitch Song-toself-rationalizers" | Reviewer: Shayla | 4/17/09

I really think you're the one who needs to stfu. People like you are unbelievably annoying. If people can relate the songs to other things, that's perfectly fine. Nobody needs a-holes like you coming in and telling them they're wrong for thinking outside of the box. Just because the song has been confirmed to mean one thing, it doesn't mean others can't see it in a different light. Doesn't matter if people haven't been addicted to heroin.. they can still see depth in the song, you f'kin tool.

Stfu Bitch Song-toself-rationalizers. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/13/09

Stfu Bitch Song-toself-rationalizers... this is song is clearly about smoking heroin, as blatnalty mentinoed in reference to chasing th de dragon , china white is not cockaine it is a very rare and best of wuality OPIUM whch heroin is derived that is in CHINA , stop u little bitches trying to relate yoturself to this song it is about heroin and nothing else and if u havent done / been addicted to heroin stfu u dont know the depth of this song

Heroin? | Reviewer: Jeff | 1/25/09

I've heard this song's about heroin addiction, and after reading the lyrics I think it's plausible that this entire album is about addiction in one form or another (Thirteenth Step following the twelfth step of the twelve-step program, could it mean relapse?).

Desperate little man..... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/6/09

I think its about a man with so much shit in his life that he'd rather "Jam the Dragon" or take the tooter of his meth or his pipe-weed and bury himself inside the music that slowly soothes his pain... the songs a personal fave of mine, I kinda relate to it...

12 STEPS i.e. Weak and Powerless STEP ONE | Reviewer: 1st Stepper | 12/16/08

Just thought I'd add another perspective. If you are with an addict or are a serious co-dependent (meaning you chase your addict around and are addicted to that vicious cycle until you are insane and reach an emotional "bottom")...then you may be familiar with 12 step programs. To me, it fits my situation. You have to admit you are powerless and weak in the first step. It's step one. Which I am studying and just for the record...this song popped on when I needed a diversion. NOT what I was looking for, but so...Perfect.

china white | Reviewer: timmy tim tim | 8/17/08

does anyone here understand that "china white" is a double entendre? yes hes saying hes digging in search of china white cocaine, but at the same time hes using the digging a hole to china saying as a metaphor for addiction, ie saying that by the time he gets what he came for, he'll be dead or close to dying.
"someone feed the monkey while i dig in search of china,* white as dracula as i approach the bottom."
that is why Maynard is so great. he's saying that yes this song is about drugs and addiction, but there is more to this song if you're willing to look.
