Weak And Powerless Lyrics
Artist(Band):A Perfect Circle
Tilling my own grave to keep me level
Jam another dragon down the hole
Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren
One that pushes me along and leaves me so
Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless over you
Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom
Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless over you
Little angel go away
Come again some other day
The devil has my ear today
I'll never hear a word you say
Promised I would find a little solace
And some peace of mind
Whatever just as long as I don't feel so
Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless
Desperate and ravenous,
So weak and powerless
Over you

Review about Weak And Powerless
china white | Reviewer: timmy tim tim | 8/17/2008does anyone here understand that "china white" is a double entendre? yes hes saying hes digging in search of china white cocaine, but at the same time hes using the digging a hole to china saying as a metaphor for addiction, ie saying that by the time he gets what he came for, he'll be dead or close to dying.
"someone feed the monkey while i dig in search of china,* white as dracula as i approach the bottom."
that is why Maynard is so great. he's saying that yes this song is about drugs and addiction, but there is more to this song if you're willing to look.

ok. this is very simple, of course it is most certainly true that the meaning of any song can be interpreted however one desires, that is hardly a point to make in light of these specific song lyrics. i've listened to apc for a long time and while the beauty of music is that it can be so individual for every person, this song is without a doubt referencing heroine. he mentions the dragon, which is an ancient symbol for the use of opiates, hence, "chasing the dragon", for heroine users, also one of the common dangers of shooting heroine was the damage to tissue after continuing to use the same hole, which he also mentions jamming, (a needle lingo) another into the hole. he also makes reference to the beginning psychological treatment for such addictions. in general, the song is also about a lack of control in life for most, as we all scurry about meaninglessly like ants hardly affecting or controlling a greater element than the tv channel and the overall weakness of existence while addicted.

the world has nothing to offer but to get high of drugs. i mean the government wants you to spend your money on his product not the dealers. the government doesnt care about people's health he cares about your money. i mean look at the food we eat, the air we breath, the water we drink, the shitty products we buy that are build to break so you go back and buy more.
this song is about... | Reviewer: jay | 8/6/2008
everything and everyone...the addiction to life itself and the many obstacles we face as humans as we stumble through life looking for that happiness..that heaven on earth...that was promised to us, but we seem to never find...and what are we left with? that feeling of helplessness...weak and powerless...for the things that we want are seldom what we need...and the things that we end up with...end up becoming our obsessions and our worst enemies ...and that hole...in her solar plexus...is the power chakra destroyed by our desires...or not, maybe its about drugs...or TV....or relationships.. or slavery....or death...or life...or..hell...or reality....or....or...being human....we are so weak and powerless as humans...as sheeple...easily manipulated by THEM...that control US....and makes US into SLAVES for THEM.....namaste...
DESIRE.DRUGS. | Reviewer: KAYLA | 7/17/2008
this song is based upon drugs. but its also based about a "Want" a want for something you can't have. and you have no control over the situation. The video is kinda freaky. but i do enjoy watching it. when i smoke pot. i think to myself. wow, i just lunch. but this songs just reminds me that there is so much for to life then just getting high. and in orfer to get it you have to want it. so i love this song. and yea. i think its based upon drugs. and life. a mix . ya know
drugs | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/1/2008
are probably what this song is based off of, but it doesn't seem as centered on drug scenarios as other songs that are clearly about drugs. it seems more like he is referring to obsession in general, and our conscious realization of being obsessed and struggling with the realization.
It's so deep | Reviewer: Heavierthanasky | 12/27/2007
The sound is typical for APC,and my vision of the song is,actually, connected with being addicted(everything you can be powerless over counts). But,what I love with this kind of abstract art, let's call it so,is that a hundreds of meanings can be pulled out, just from one small metaphor. So,debating about the real meaning is kind of silly.

The song is about beeing addicted to heroin, and iknow these things because i am an addict myself! He more or less refers to the 12 step program:) witch is working for me and alot of peopel around the world. Read the first step guys!!
yep | Reviewer: Dave Crownson | 12/5/2007
Time to get in the mind of these musicians. Most of Maynard's songs along with Trent Reznor are purely inspired on their addiction to drugs and the different phases of withdrawal. Trent always refers to addiction as a woman and Maynard is a little more creative in my point of view. How you take it is how you take it, but this music was inspired by these means. I love Tool, Perfect Circle, and NIN and know that once the musicians finally get away from the grasps of these drugs that their music is usually less inspired or just doesn't communicate as well. Kinda sucks, but ten/twenty years of sacrificing their bodies and minds to make good music is enough. Time for them to enjoy the money they made and somebody else to take their place.
Weak and Powerless | Reviewer: Zach | 12/1/2007
I agree with the reviewer below me in this song he uses drugs as merely a subject to base upon since if there is ever something you can become weak and powerless over...but the song isn't about drugs and your naive if you see it that way the song is saying we all have our impulses we follow them for a long time like an addiction sometimes we realize where were going so we try filling up that hole which that addiction left (hince the video) but its hard you know don't destroy this song for people who want to see how deep it is man i mean cause it is deep he might be referencing drugs in the song but that hole which is left behind could be from anything love, loss of someone you care about etc. E'n la sua volontade e nostra pace.
