Also "someone feed the monkey...", i believe, is referring to the term "monkey on my back", or something that is constant and persists. That something being heroin, or other opiates, such as painkillers. i.e. hydrocodone, oxycodone, oxymorphone, all of which are opium derivatives and can almost as addicting as heroin. If you are with an addict or are a serious co-dependent (meaning you chase your addict around and are addicted to that vicious cycle until you are insane and reach an emotional "bottom")...then you may be familiar with 12 step programs.
